What RPM do you guys launch and shift at?

Hey guys I'm curious as to what RPM you guys are launching and shifting your cars at? Please specify if you have a 2v or 4v. I feel like the 4v's shift at a much higher rpm. I am looking for optimal speed, trap, and 1/4 times.

The launch rpm depends on tires and suspension, but I shift my 2v at 67-6800 do to the cams, otherwise I woldnt go above 6100, the stock redline is 6050

Are you looking for suggestions or just what we shift at? My 2v rev limit is set to 7300 RPM with TF heads and upgraded valvtrain and stage 3 Cams. But I have a high-reving setup.

I haven't made it to the track yet with the new engine so I'll find out optimal shift and launch points later.

^ Oh yeah tires, i run 15" Hoosier QTP's. last time i was out the track it was kinda slick and i was running about 9-10 psi in them, i forgot to mark the tires so i do not know if the rims were spinning inside the tires or not. il be sure to remember to mark em next trip out.

My dinky little auto can't launch any higher than 1,500 rpm =(. Otherwise itll break the tires loose and start spinning, or ill never have any traction off the line. If it's hot, 1,500. If it's cold, 1,000. My car blows off the line =/

Launch off a 2 step at 4500 rpm on 26x10 slicks. If the track holds more I up the rpms. If it spins I lower it. I shift at 7000 rpms threw a 4v

A little high there. 6200 is about as high of an rpm I needed to get my best times out of a stock heads/cam/motor 2v

lies.. redline in mine is 5800. rev limiter is around 61 or 6200.. i launch slipping clutch at like 1500 so its not a clutch dump on slicks like some of these hardcore guys. and i shift to second a little short of redline.. like 5500 ill grab second and wind out 2nd to about redline and powershift to third.. the reason for the change for me is traction.. if i run out 1st ill just spin thru 2nd so i short shift just that little and then use 2nd all the way.. i would do the same out of 3rd cuz traction but i dont need it with stock gears and tune ect. cross the line in 3rd on limiter just one or two hits

I have a GT with a ProCharger. I also have 3.73 gears.

An SVT will run higher rpms that a GT. Launching rpms depend more on tires than anything else. Street tires I have to lauch a 2,000 and bogged down the motor to get my best 60" which was 2.0. Nitto 555Rs need to be really heated up. I wasn't doing it enought at first and just bounced off the rev limiter on launch. But laster, wow. At a 3500 rpm launch I bogged the motor down and got a 1.85 60". With more experiences I'm sure I can do better.

I believe that shifting at 6200 in first is best (redline is 5800). It keeps the motor in the power band better for the lower second gear. I shift at 6,000 for the other gears.

I'm still experimenting. If you ask me this next year you will get a different answer.

ProCharger P-1SC, 9 psi, STD 396/383; Uncorrected 388/375; SAE 383/370.

Depends on your power curve. Everyones is different, whether its a NA cammed motor, centri, KB, etc... Reason the 4V shift higher is because the 4V heads are a lot more efficient and make power to 6500rpm. A stock 2V wont maker power past 5500rpm.

My car on my first dyno didnt drop off power, and revved to 6400rpm no problem. So I set my shiftlight at 6300rpm so by the time I shift its probably 6400rpm.

The last time I went to the dyno it stopped making power at like 6100rpm which was weird.

Conditions were different so the readings were different. Every time my car is on a dyno it reads a little different. Those things are not totally accurate.
