going blow-thru but gotta few ?'s
I am intercooling air to air fm, and going blow-thru, now my tuner reccomended on my 01 gt going with,
Ford OE 05+ Mustang MAF 6 wire MAF pigtail Diablo Sport MAFia now the diablo/tricktuners site says to use pmas hpx with the 05+maf as the mafia pegs after 5-6volts supposably? is my tuner wrong with his suggestion will that not work or something? need opinions and pros n cons of both and who to believe?

You can use an 05 maf with a diablo. Find out the price difference. You can get a PMAS HPX maf with adapter from Trick Tuners shipped to your door for $225. PMAS HPX is the maf. You will not be buying a PMAS HPX maf and a stock 05+ Mustang maf. It is one or the other. You use the HPX maf or you use an 05+ Mustang Maf with a diablo. Either will work. They are both slot style mafs.

a hpx slot maf is good to 600 hp in a 3 inch housing. your tuner is telling you crap cause its not the volts you look at when you tune, its how many counts it is at. max count a maf can go is 1023 which is 5v. just get the hpx maf and forget the mafia, you wont need it. btw its easier to describe a mafia by settings. max setting for a mafia is 3 after that the counts will go down but flat line early.

my tuner said nothing bout volts he just recomended 05+maf setup w/mafia will that not work well/be sufficiant?, I said that from the mafia/tricktuner siye that carries them here is what it says
"The DiabloSport MAFia F7373 provides real world plug and play control of your Ford vehicle's Mass Air Meter (MAF). Mafia allows you to precisely control and regulate MAF sensor voltage eliminating the need for Pre-fabricated custom MAF sensors. High horse power applications require custom tuning, or for stock applications the MAFia features 5% lean 5% rich. The MAFia uses factory connectors and harnesses to attenuate the signal to a vehicle's MAF, and allows vehicles with stock MAFs to run beyond the standard 5 Volts. When a vehicle normally reaches 5 volts, it "pegs the meter" or maxes out the signal, keeping the vehicle from making peak horse power at high RPM.. The MAFia attenuates this signal, and will allow a vehicle to make up to 800 RWHP without "pegging the meter." The 96-04 Ford Maf does not have the issues outputting over 6.0 volts like the 05+ meter does. The 96-04 MAFs should only be used in draw through maf applications. If you desire a blow through maf for your turbo or centri blower setup, please select the PMAS HPX maf."

yeah it will work but it cost more. gotta figure the cost of a mafia is 145 dollars, the 05+ slot maf is atleat 75-100, plus pig tail, and a housing/flange. it is 215 for a hpx maf, 45 for a flange, and 30 for a pig tail.

yep, just another way to sucker you out of money. unless your tuner does not use sct software and he does not have the maf transfunction for a ba 5000 maf. in that case it is much easier for him to tune a oem slot maf with a mafia vs a hpx or ba5000 maf. i would not let that guy touch my car if that were the case

since he tunes with sct software he is able to get the maf trans function for the sct ba 5000, which is the same tables as the hpx maf. worst case you run the more expensive ba5000, or just stick to the mafia and 05+ maf with a mafia. i was just stating that the route you are taking cost more, and in the long run if you plan on making big hp numbers the maf will be a limiting factor again.

you gotta look at a couple of factors. in a 3 inch housing the slot maf will have the cleanest resolution, which improves low speed driving. in a larger housing you will give up resolution for more range. a oem slot maf is good to about 300 hp (max). top that off with a mafia you may get to 600 hp but you may be pushing it as well. a aftermarket slot mafs are good to 600 hp in a 3 inch housing, so you have best resolution and capable of supporting what you want without a mafia. if ever you want more a hpx/ba5000 maf with a mafia is good to 800+ in a 3 inch housing.

I have an hpx slot style maf with a plug n play harness to work with my 04. My car isn't done yet but my tuner recommended either that or the ba5000.

Off topic, but how much of a straight away do i need for the maf? I need to movr mine down further so ny meth jet isn't to close to the maf of to close to the iat sensor. Some procharger guys say there's isnt even on a straight away and they have no issues.

VMP sells a 75mm, 8" long housing for the HPX maf, which is the length they recommend.
I think it all depends on if you're having drivability issues with the system.
