01 Svt Cobra help!

I have a 01 cobra with 90k miles, take good care of it, i get a feeling around 1900rpms only of the engine acting like its missing, but never throws a code and seems to only do it when its colder out, and the engine isnt warmed up, i also know when i do a pass it will occasionally flash the check engine light saying multiple cylinders have misfired, could this be a coil on plug problem? any help would be greatly helpful.

Check your cops and plugs before you do anything else.

My parent have a e150 with the 5.4l and it would misfire every once and a while especially when it was humid out and it got worse and worse but never threw a check engine light and when it finally did i pulled the info from my scanner and there was a misfire at 1750rpms replaced the two coil packs that went bad and no more problems sounds a lot like your problem and there were only 76,000 miles on it at the time.

i think il just order a set of high performance cops because ive been wanting to do that for awhile and this just helped me descide to do that, i didnt know if it was more serious or not. im sure the 2 step and tune are a bit much for stock cops maybe.

2-step shouldn't be effecting it. When was the last time you checked the plugs on it?? With it having 4-threaded plug holes I would check the trq on them and make sure none are coming loose.

Be sure to do this with the engine ICE COLD.

i didnt think a 2 step would be invloved in causing problems, i did plugs about 5k miles ago. do they have a problem sometimes of coming loose? i think with my tune and higher timing, the stock cops are either worn out or cant keep up at higher rpms. You guys probably know alot more than me about this, shes my first dohc motor haha.

Yes mod-motor plugs do have issues with blowing out. Check them.

A misfire will tend to go away with more RPM. Unless theres just a connection then youll constintley have a misfire. My guess is a bad COP. Very common on these cars. You could wait til the car throws a code, which seems like these fucking cars take forever to throw the CEL on for a misfire, then switch that COP to a different cylinder, wait til the CEL goes on again and see if the code changed to the cylinder you changed it to.

Check the following things:
Spark plugs. Take them out, get a look at them, check the gap, re-install to proper torque.
COP's. Check all connections. Make sure they're installed firmly.
Check your stored codes. Typically misfire codes will tell you what cylinder. Focus on those, possibly switch their coils around and see if the problem follows the coils.

And FWIW, the "performance" coils are no better than OEM. In fact some have had more problems with the aftermarket ones than the OEM. OEM throws plenty of spark and is tough to beat for reliability.

Plus one. I have had great luck with the oem cops for over 8 years.
