Header locking bolts
I've never ran locking bolts on any of my motors but I'm going to run them on my new 4.6. I do not want to deal with the bitch of replacing gaskets or them EVER coming loose once installed. I honestly havent had bad luck though too much with headers ever coming loose once tdorque right but these are such a bitch I dont want to risk it for the small investment.
My PROBLEM I would prefer to run the split locking bolts. I know they would be ALOT easier to remove if I had to compared the Stage 8 or Ford racing C clip style locking bolts. The problem is it seems like they're not made anymore or something. I cant find them in stock anywhere online. I mean I guess for my purpose of never removing them the C-clip style would be fine but just in case I would like to stay away from them. I'm going to bolt and torque my JBA shortys on the stand and drop the motor in with them already installed. I'm so anal about the whole deal I bought the headers used and found a crack so I had my welded go over both headers and tig up all of the backside of the tubes (where I found JBA long tubes crack often, he also grinded and cleaned up alot of JBA's shitty welds. To be totally honesty its a ton of work for shitty shorty headers and I think the JBA shortys are 1 of the worst on the market (ford racing shortys are the worst, bbk shorty seem to work the best of all shorties) for performance but they are all thats legal in CA and I DO NOT want to mess with removing long tubes for smog. But I will say this if these JBAs do shit the bed I will be smacking long tubes on it and buying a new prochamber. IM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING BUYING A SET OF MID LENGTH HEADERS AND WELDING THE CARB PLATE ONTO THEM LOL. FUCKING SMOG GUYS WOULD NEVER KNOW AROUND HERE. BUNCH OF CAMEL JOCKIES THAT DONT CARE ENOUGH TO EVEN LOOK IT UP. LAST TIME THEY SMOGED ME WITH AN ILLEGAL POWER PIPE, BOV AND HPX BLOW THROUGH MAF LOL!! HE DIDNT CARE AS LONG AS THE HEAD UNIT HAD THE CARB PLATE BUT HE WAS ANAL LOOKING UNDER THE CAR AT THE EXHAUST

Header bolts backing out is a myth. The reason you can tighten the bolts a bit more after you run the engine is heat cycles. This is the different expansion properties of aluminum versus stainless. Once you put the bolts in, tighten them as much as you can, then forget about them.

I've got stage 8's on mine, but that's only because the previous owner put them on when he did the headers. When I reinstalled them I got on all locks but one, and I figured that was good enough for me

I'm running Stage 8s on mine only because no one had any regular style bolts in stock at the time. The split lock bolts you're referring to are made by Percy's if that helps you at all. Give them a call directly.
