Catted X-Pipe for OR X pipe

So. I've been reading around alot, and really it comes down to where I live, and whatnot. I figured somewhat of a poll, and others opinions might matter.

I have a 00 GT 4.10 gears, and Borla Stinger exhaust. What would be better for my set up. I live in Michigan, and you don't have a emissions test. But I live in a small town in the middle of the broken neck woods. I live in a city full of trucking people pretty much.

What are the benefits of a Catted X-Pipe vs a O/R X pipe. It's my daily driver.

Chatted x is quieter, off road x is substantially louder with more power gain and better flow than catted and illegal. But who cares if you don't have emissions checks where u live. Off road x would sound like sex with your stingerss I would go with off roads. As long as your not stupid about it and try to be quiet at night in your town when needed. No one should bother you? U will just be heard a mile away so don't try and sneak home late at night

The only thing Cs is that I've read alot that it makes it like horrid loud. Hell I live in such a small town that I rarely even drive the highway if maybe twice a month for a 1/2 hour to the closest movie theatre mall.

The only other problem is in my town theirs a saying because the cops can be such dicks. " Come to gladwin on vacation, and leave on prohbation."
So I don't know if their's a way that their quiet while coasting through town at all.

my o/r x setup seem to have less pick up from down low vs when I added hi flow cats to it. And the cats just cleaned the sound and smell up also. for noise imo my o/r x had it but for decent feel and a somewhat mellow sound my catted setup seemed quite better. IMO of course.

On my car an off road X sounded way too loud and raspy for me. I put my catted H back on and the car was faster in the 1/4 mile. I won't go back to an off road pipe again on a mild car.

Well personally on how many times I've read the word "Smell" how strong is it actually without the cats? Cause I'm not into smelling gasoline the whole nine yards. I have leather interior, and I dig the smell of the leather. You usually only smell it in your car or well if your a leather wearing person.

So your 1/4 miles times dropped cause of it? Ouch. That hurts the whole opinion on it a little bit for me. I might have to look into SLP's H- pipe or something. I'm looking for a head turning sound, and a real aggressive sound. But I don't want bloody obnoxious.
Theirs a point where your just going to far, and I cant really say. Cause Youtube video's have all diffrent sound qualitys based on the camera.

i think you would be happy with a high flow catted midpipe. h or x , either. the smell isnt bad with no cats. my interior is leather and its never smelled like exhaust. not unless you have a leak. its should all go out the back. i think the catted mid pipe with stingers will still be plenty head turning loud and keep you away from unwanted attention. esspecially in a small town with dickhead cops. people get annoyed fast where im from. but ive had o/r upr x with magnapack catback for over a year, never been bothered once about how loud it is...

plus you can run crowd pleaser when you go to the track, make your exhaust smell like grapes, or cotton candy, cherry, whatever you want. that kinda expensive additive though lol. i ran it once, pretty sweet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Manhattan-Oi...item415cf5023b

Haha yeah. I'm trying to get as much bang for my buck as I can. I'm 21, and live in a small town. Payed 2k for the carr, and it's only got 60k on it. The guy had it sitting in a garage for 6 years, and was gonna try screwing some people on it thinking the computer was bad when it just needed a fuel pump. Profit. I work at Mcdonalds. So I need as much bang for my buck as I can, it's actually my first real car to be truthfull.

I've just seen that BBK has an awesome x pipe catless that everyone enjoys, and that alot of video's on youtube feature that. I see an under lying amount in catted ones. SLP makes a good catted X-pipe I hear but I'm not to sure. I hear it's decent for the $100 more.

I'm a AM shopper so. I'm going with what I can through their.

dont forget that with any o/r midpipe you will have to either tune the car for no cats or get mil eliminators. or deal with a check engine light. i would just get a tuner at the same time. i know your on a budget but it would be worth it to get power out of a mod and turn the check engine light off at the same time. lol

I got 4.10's. So I already have the tuner. I'm just going to need to get a new custom tune in the long run to have it run the best I can. Yeah. I heard Pypes wasent the greatest thing in the world either.

Why AM even features it is beyond me. But apparently people like it? Not to sure. UPR? Never heard of that unless I'm just completely missing the whole thing all together since it's getting so late for me.

I used to have a modular bassani X pipe - you can remove the cats and insert the straight pipes - that way you can have both

@Esonu - Yeah if you don't have cats then the 02 sensors will trip your check engine light. Then all that extra power will just be gone, and bogged down cause of the light.

You need to tune it or have Eliminanators to turn the light off. In my situation I have the tuner. I'm just going for personal prefference atm.
