guessing horsepower based on ET or MPH?
anyone good with this stuff? my gt has a best mph of 91 and a best et of 8.20 (with a 1.8x 60' on that pass, that's the best we could get). that was with a procharger (50 lbs or more with piping, intercooler, head unit, etc...), mach 1 hood with shaker at the time, probably 30 lbs over stock, 5 speed, full exhaust without cats so losing a few lbs there, a 300 lb driver (no not me lol, but i'm at 230). on the dyno i made 413 hp and 450 rwtq. never weighed the car but it was pretty heavy on those passes.
what kinda power does that suggest? or anything besides the actual weight you'd need to know to guesstimate?

Well, Im making 380rwhp SAE Corrected on a Dyno Jet. And Ive trapped a lot of high 89mph to low 91mph on a consistent basis, best of a low 92mph.
But a lot plays in affect. A dyno reading is just a number. Someone could make 400rwhp at high elavation, but lower trap speed vs someone with 350rwhp at sea level. Barometric pressure. The higher the better, since its pressure, the more you can shove into the blower to compress the better. DA, humidity, etc play a big roll. This guy, making 600rwhp only trapping 120mph. Cobras with a 2.7 pulley, intake, and exhaust trap 119-120mph and are a little heavier. His DA is like 6500ft so thats killing him.

91mph doesn't really suggest 400+ rwhp (then again your car seems pretty heavy) but i don't think you can make an accurate guess with a bad sixty foot. at least not in my experience. my mph has always went up with a better sixty foot...i'm sure if you get the 60' down in the 1.5-1.6 range the mph will go up. 380rwhp got me 93mph and then bumping it up to a 150 shot got me 98mph (maybe 420-430rwhp?)...on street wheels with a 1.8 sixty foot it only did 89mph on the 100 shot (380rwhp)

I tried that calculator using 8.260 @ 88.43 mph weighing 3600 lbs. It said 290 rwhp. Interesting, but wrong. My car has been on three separate dynos (two dynojets and a mustang dyno) and the range has been 370 to 385 rwhp (no changes to the car). If the calculator is correct then the entire automotive industry has formed a huge conspiracy to defraud us. I'm not a believer in huge conspiracies.
As was mentioned before there are too many variables. But some of the same variable affect dynos as well. That's why there are correction factors and slightly different results. Edit: That was based upon ET. I read futher. For trap speed it said 365.59 rwhp. It obviously expects a better 60' than I have and a lower altitude. I'm at 1000 ft.

The calculator shows how much hp the car put down on the ground while making the pass. Spinning, slow shifting, short shifting or shifting way over power band will not have good time slips.
My car 8psi 7.42@101.41 shows 602fwhp with mph. 15psi 6.89@109.03 shows 748fwhp with mph. 18psi 6.34@114.30 shows 862fwhp with mph. This all shows my engine making about 390fwhp n/a and about 312rwhp n/a. It seems to be right using what I know about my setup.

And track prep. Test and tune days do not always have the same track prep. I was in line once when a guy a couple of cars up blew an engine. We set almost an hour while they clean the track and re-prepped it. It made a huge difference. The spun a lot the pass before launching at 3000 rpms. That pass the tires gripped and bogged down the motor launching at the same rpms.

Yes, the calculators are based on physics. Force equals mass x acceleration and all that. If you can hit the times the calculators give, you're looking at a near perfect run.
