Too many miles for a dyno tune?
Hey guys! I have some upcoming plans for my 02 GT this spring/summer. I plan on doing a stage one CMS or comp cam, valve springs, off-road x-pipe, and some mac long tube headers. The car has 123k on it. Is that too many miles to get it dyno tuned? Car runs great but I'm still curious because it's still my daily driver. Thanks in advance guys!

There is no such thing as to many miles to do something, if it runs strong it runs strong, go for it!

I've got. 220k and will be getting a dyno tune when I get my cams installed.
2 miles or 200k miles, you have the same risk on a dyno.

You will be 100% fine! With Cms stage II's and spring kit with all the bolt on's through a 5sp I made 305/333 whp/wtq.

youll be fine, miles are only good for re-sale value. If the car runs strong, no issues/leaks etc then run it! Im about to hit 100k and plan to have it till it falls apart and im always adding more stuff. Ask the cabdrivers in NYC who beat the balls off their 4.6l motors and still run like a chamP!
as someone stated tho, 2miles or 200k miles it can blow up whenever. Look at all the poeple who build there motors and have issues when its all said and done. Nothing is perfect.. |

Go ahead and replace the timing chain when you do the cams

I'd check the engines over all health first. Compression check. Read the park plugs. And make sure it's not consuming oil before I go modding on a high mile motor. Most of the time if it's running fine it'll be fine. Atleast you will know for sure and can handle issues if they come up. |
