Another tire thread...

Ive recently got an 04 Procharged 40th anniversity with only 27,000 miles. She currently has nittos but they dont hook for nothing and arnt that great in the rain.
So.... What would be a tire that is going hook (street, strip) and be alright in the rain? oh, and they are 305's.

all input will be greatly appreciated =)

if your already running the drag radial then you can't go much more aggressive without sacrificing handling in the rain...

Sorry...but you cannot say "I have Nitto's and they don't hook..." without saying what model they are. This is like saying.... "I have a Ford and it is totally slow" and expecting us to know where to being in helping to make it faster

My guess is you don't run a 555R

jazzer telling it like it is. But yes, Nitto offers tires that range from crappy to stellar. If you run the NT555s, the NT555R would be a big upgrade. If you'd like to go with a stiffer sidewall that can tackle corners well, the NT555RII and NT05 are good candidates

Are the straight 555 nittos any good? I like how they look and hope they hook better than my sumi's. I don't know if I wanna go DR yet.

Really? All the reviews on AM say they are good. I just need something for street driving that will hook better than sumis. Has anyone else hated the 555's?

What is another option for 315/35/17 that aren't DR?

you can try the 555r but its only gonna be worse in the rain. not that they're bad but it certainly won't get better.

+1^ if your not happy with 555's in the rain, your not ready for any drag radial.

This is NOT true Just like Nitto, Sumi has some tires that are fine for performance

The most common choice is the HTRZ and they are HORRIBLE in pretty much all ways related to grip. The HTRZ II is OK and the HTRZ III is a fine tire and would place it probably a bit above a Nitto 555. Not fantastic, but better than the HTR Z for sure.

Go with the NT05s they are great in inclimate weather conditions. and provide decent traction. I'll be buying them again in the summer.
