oil leak :o

alright just started parking my mustang on the concrete lately and i noticed about three, 1 1/2 diameter spots of oil a day on the concrete... no good. i looked underneath my car and there is only oil on the left side of my undercarrage. i think its coming out of my valve cover gasket, but what are the other possible places it could leak from besides the head gasket?

The oil filter is on the left side. Hopefully its something that easy. Depending on mileage it could be any of the gaskets.

It would be best is you didn't say left or right but said passenger or driver's side. Left to me is the left side as I look at the motor--the passenger side. To someone else its the driver's side.

Jack ur car up and look, if nothing is obvious clean ur motor and then monitor. I have the same problem and just finished cleaning my motor. I marked my garage floor where my front tires are, that way I can see where to start looking. + 1 on the passenger or driver's side

agreed, left or right(at any dealer/shop anyways) is based off of the driver sitting in the drivers seat, left is the drivers side and right is the passengers.

but anyways you're gonna have to look around before you think it's one gasket. buy a can of brake clean or two, clean off all the leaked oil, start the car and let it run for a little bit while checking it to see if you can see any drops dripping.

Another helpful tip is spray some white spray paint in the area you suspect might be leaking.

It was an old trick my dad taught me when I first got my Cutlass. Wipe everything clean, hit a few spots with white spray paint. Since most leaks are so small you can't see it dripping or flowing, the white shows the residue very well.

I'd usually hit the oil pan around the drain plug with some paint. That way after you change the oil and wipe it clean, it's easy to tell if that's the area that's leaking after an oil change. Just a helpful tip.
