Transmission/Clutch Question
Does anyone have any issues engaging into first gear while pressing the clutch all the way in? But when you slightly release the clutch it slides into first? If so is that a clutch issue or something else?

I would try servicing the transmission first. Drain it and fill it with 3.5 qts of synchromesh

Mine is sometimes hard to get into either first or reverse (which I think is a synchronizer issue). If it won't go into first, I'll put it into reverse and just barely let out on the clutch until the car moves ever so slightly (and vice-versa with reverse and first). Then, it's no problem to get into gear.
If the above doesn't work for you, do as Nick said above.

I had a mechanic change out the transmission oil and rear end oil about a year ago. I don't do a lot of driving with the mustang.

its pretty much normal with any manual transmission. Sometimes all the teeth of the gear, the synchronizer and the blocker ring dont line up perfectly to allow it into gear. when you let up a little on the clutch, it allows the internals to turn just enough to get them to line up and engage it in gear.

your clutch cable may have stretched a little causing this issue, but if you dont drive it much Thats probably not it. It is quite common though.

I guess I'll take it to a mech to see what he can come up with it. But from what he said it could be possibly a synchro because it only happens in first and second gear.

So after going to the mechanics he told me that I need to replace the clutch, the throw out bearing, the blocking ring, and the synchro.

What trans is it. I 'think' the t45 always had 1 and reverse issues. My t45 hates going into rev.

It might be worth it to try a Mobile 1 fluid change first. The trans in your car is a great one, but a little picky about fluid type and level (3/4 inch below fill---if it is a TR3650.)
