I was going to buy a tuner from someone on craigslist they flamed out. So I am going to go head and buy one from am for 379 . Are they really worth it? The mods I have are exhaust cold air intake and 3.73 gears. I don't really plan on doing much more.

i think it was worth it i definatley felt more power afterwords but my cars automatic
and its been known to have more of an effect on automatics

also i had to buy one to correct me speedometer
when i did my gear swap

dont give up looking on craigslist man

you can get a locked one for a 100 and send it to sct
and theyll unlock it for you 150

thats 250

use whats left over to do other mods or save for bigger mods

that way you wont have to get it unlocked

just pop in the new ecm
and fire it up pats is turned of so it would start right up

then get a new tune with pats turned off

there are unlocked used ones out there. I got my first used Diablo used for $175 kept it for a bit then got some mods that required a tune but he use's sct so i sold the diablo for $175 and got a used unlocked sct for $180. And they are worth it!

New or used(unlocked) they will do the Same exact job for a different price of course.

their def worth it. dont give up looking yet though. and if your going to get one get the livewire. dont go cheap with the handheld that sits in your cupholder. I liked the livewire much more, had more options, and it mounts on your windshield.

What do the unlocks mean?

I've just had mine sent back to me. Got off friends totaled. Ad and they unlocked it for me. Says I have 4 unlocks left. That mean I can only use it four more times?

there are PLENTY of guys with a handheld and it doesnt sit in your cupholder you plug it in tune the car and then unplug it and put the thing back up. Unless you're trying to datalog(which im not sure of).

unlocked means the person that sold it returned their car to stock so its just plug and play once another buyer gets a tuner. Locked means they still have the tune on their car and its locked to that particular vehicles vin/computer.

It's worth it!! But I would buy a new one and AM does offer the free tunes for life so it's worth it.

if your longtrm goal is a dyno tune then "free tunes for life" isnt needed and just how often do you need to change it once you get a few mods and set in you canned tune?!!!
