hood pins
i read alot of old threads on hood pins and every single one involved welding a nut onto the core support. i dont have a welder so cant i just buy some 5 inch pins instead of 4 inch?

Im not sure what answer you are looking for..
There are hood pins where you just drill a hole in say the radiator support and the bottom of the pin (opposite of the end that sticks through the hood) has threads that will sqrew into the hole you drilled in the support. So, no there's no reason for welding. |

You just have to buy a longer pin I'm not sure on the size though but I think the 4 inch won't work

They are all 1/2" in diameter. OP Those should be long enough! The problem people have with the 4" pins is that they aren't long enough to reach through the hood, when placed where the bump stops are on the core support.

I may be wrong, but i thought only the frpp hood pins were too short? On mine I made a small bracket and welded it on, with a hole drilled through. Gave an extra inch of height and looks way cleaner than a nut welded on.

The FRPP's are the the ones talked about the most around here and I'm not sure if any other brands make their pins 4" long also.

It's about a billion times easier to weld 'em. Have fun with that.
