Removing chrome from rims?

Is there any chemical that can remove chrome off rims or should I just go pick up a sand blaster?

Why would you do that? Why not sell them and get a different colored rim?

I'm sure there's plenty of agressive chemicals that would do the trick, but it would take some work to clean up the damage it would do beyond the chrome. I would imagine it would be pitted pretty good.

...or if they're chrome Bullitts you could sell them to me?

Na there 95 cobra Rs and the chrome is pealing, I also hate the look of chrome but I love the look of the rim so I'm gonna paint them gunmetal with a chrome lip

I can't think of the name off the top of my head but maybe use the chemical that strips paint down to bare metal.
I wish i could remember the name of the stuff

Air craft stripper? Paint stripper won't work

My brother picked it up when we were gonna repaint our Comet, all we did was put it on and the paint basically melted off to bare metal.
I'll try and get the name of it

Aircraft stripper is not paint stripper, soak the rims for about 15 minutes on the stuff and the chrome will come right off.

So I think I'm going to try ether aircraft stripper or an muriatic acid (another forum says it works well), if that dosnt get it all off I'll wire wheel what I can with a grinder or you a mild flap wheel and last resort a little sand blasting and sand paper to finish it off. Any other ideas?
Im a broke college kid so I can't afford to go to a shop plus I want the lip to stay chrome

get them sand blasted, there are plenty of small town business that do that kind of work thats not to expensive

I dont think you will be able to accomplish that with using any kind of stripper, just think if your stripping off chrome what are you going to use to protect the outer chrome lip ? tape...? that shit will get ate so fast by any stripper that has the capabilities to take off chrome.

Watch that aircraft grade stuff it can cause some serious health issues if inhaled or if it touches skin! And I've tried it on chrome rims before and it didn't take it off... Sand blast that hoe!

ALOT of tape and being very careful putting it on I might even be able to get around the lip with a grinder I'll figure it out by the weekend and if I need to I'll pick up a sand blaster
