Rear end oil and friction modifier questions

Ok so I'm coming up on my rear oil drain for my new gears, but I have a couple questions...

What weight should I use? I've seen both 75w90 and 75w140 being used. The car is mainly street/DD and some track.

And...

What oils do you recommend for use and which ones need friction modifier? I was thinking either Redline or Lucas. I've used Lucas before without friction modifier.

You don't need to drain oil after x miles of installing new gears.

This is one of those things that will be endlessly debated. I also don't think you need to change oil, although others will chime in disagreeing.

Anyway, OP, I'd suggest royal purple. Theirs is a 75w90 and you don't need friction modifier.

Of course, using Royal Purple is yet another thing that will be endlessly debated...

Don't get anything that's stupid expensive when the cheaper fluids do the same thing, I agree that you don't need to drain the oil

Whether or not you really need friction modifier with gear oils that say they already contain friction modifier will also be endlessly debated.

FWIW... I used RP with Ford friction modifier.

I suppose we could endlessly debate what the owners manual says but my owners manual says to run Motorcraft SAE 80W-90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant. You put the friction modifier in first then top it off with oil. But I agree with others who believe you don't need to replace the oil.
