Building high compression engine

Yes I pretty much do all my own work. This is the build of my new shortblock. I pulled the engine that was running just fine and pushing my car into the 9's without 1200rwhp just to swap in some flattop pistons to really bump up the compression. My machine shop checked out my block and said it really needed to be bore a little. I already had the pistons I planned to use. So, I took them a fresh untouched teksid block. I went and picked it up along with the rotating assembly that was balanced.

Damn, flattops? That's got to put you in the 11:1 CR range.

What are you running for fuel? Going E85 for it?

No, the 60's will support 1100fwhp and I don't plan to max them out. I figure the car should have no issue running deep 9's.

Scott, spooling was not an issue before. I'm sure they will spool even quicker.

Will you have to notch the piston? I built my engine with 10:1 pistons and was just wondering how much cam you can do before notching for the valves.

Now I just need to file the rings. I've been waiting on rod bearings since 12/29/2011...
I may have to buy another set local to speed up my assembly.
