Boosting #'s

Were running on a forged Windsor block, port and polished big valve heads from dss, stroked forged steel internals (5.0) and everything blueprinted from dss. We have the typhoon intake and a high flow upper plenum. What I'm wondering is how much boost could this thing hold as a weekend warrior ?

you spent a bunch of money, and ended up with a typhoon intake? get rid of that and get an edelbrock. other than that everything else looks good.

what fuel set up do you have in the car? or what are you planning on? what crank is in it, forged or stock cast crank? what pistons/rods? there's alot of variables but if the parts are right you can throw 18 lbs at it, do that with cheapo forged rods/pistons and you're in trouble lol.

i'd want to start at 14 lbs and climb my way up. also depends on if it's going to be intercooled or not.

Plan on being intercooled. I'm just kind of looking for a top number. Dss told us in 2006 when we bought it that they would warranty 15 lb boost

What cc are your pistons. Figure out your dynamic compression as well. Fuel system is probably your weak link.

If the stroke is 3.543 then it is not stroked. your not 5.0 unless you have a 3.7 bore

Still kind of missing some info. You say 9.5-1cr but you have -10cc pistons. Is your motor a 4v? Cause if it is a 2v with 42cc chambers your closer to 10.5 - 1

If everything is forged I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to push 20psi through it if your compression is in fact 9.5:1. If it's 10.5:1 then you may want to run less boost. Your 42lb injectors are going to be the weak link. 42's are usually good to just over 500rwhp.

60lb injectors is what i recomend, but if your compression is 10:1 I would push the boost much past 15-16PSI. why the high compression on a supercharged engine build?

80lb injectors are about the same price and are what I run. Your engine will handle what ever boost you want if you have the fuel and tune to keep up.

i'd go 60's, and a dual pump set up. if your compression is that high (10.5/1) i'd keep it around 12-13 lbs personally. much higher and you risk detonation. forged or not pistons/rods don't like detonation lol.

I was actually thinking turbo. And my dad swears that they changed the compression numbers down to 9.5:1. The main thing I remember about that engine is that they cut a water jet to thick and it caused a major waterleak. So they replaced the head.

im pretty sure by your build sheet the 10cc dish wont net you under 10 - 1 cr, unless they really worked out the combustion chamber and tossed a thick head gasket in, but that would be alot of work for someone to do when all you needed was a proper dish piston.

I just was contacted back from DSS. They were able to tell me that the engine infact has dish pistons and not flattop. they also say that it makes 9.7:1 and possibly a little less if the pistons are below the deck.. So just to see what to look forward to.. how much boost and how much hp/tq should I be looking for if its tuned right?
