TTY bolts ?


Are rod and main cap bolts in a Romeo 4.6 TTY?

It's a good concept. If the bolts are engineered correctly then it makes them as secure as they possibly can be. I wouldn't ever reuse them though. The only place I've had to use them was in state competitions for automotives. And Ofcorse we reused them then. I doubt the motors we were working on will ever be built.

tty bolts are cheap, so i would not re-use them. also i would not use arp main bolts unless your shooting for over 700 rwhp. many people run the stock tty bolts well into the high 800's with out a problem. to swap out for arp main bolts requires a line hone which alot of machine shops dont have nor do they do which is not the proper way to have a motor built since using arp bolts extra torque requirements will throw your mains out of round.

Torque to yeild is not junk - it is an engineering principle that most people don't understand, and allows for far better consistency in clamping forces, and roundness of a honed bore, than standard lb. ft. techniques.
