I would put a locked box with a slot to deposit money in. Then every time you feel like wasting money on a mod you could just throw it in the box. After owning the car for several years sell it and take that money and the money in the box and deposit it in a savings account.

What you need to consider, is what NOBODY as even bothered to ask

What are the ULTIMATE goals for your ride?

Without the answer to this question, it is pointless to do any mods!

I agree, you need to figure out what the end state will be, you can toss all kinds of money at it but if your shooting blind you will never really be happy, with that being said a good set of gears and a tune is the best bag for the buck on these cars it will really wake it up. Is it a standard or auto? That will also sort of tell you where to go with it first.

I am disappointed that no one said weld in full length subframe connectors.....
No matter his goal, those should be one of the first things he does.

gears, then suspension, then blower of some sort. dont waste your time on bolt ons, 2v's dont respond to them all that well.

First, welcome! I hope we help you mod the shit out of this GT. As noted before please tell us your goals for the car. Drag? Twisties? Street? High Hp? Now here are the cheap and common things:
Gears: 4.10 or 3.73 depending on the goals adds to the throw you in your seat feel
Tuner: Sct or diablo, I would get SCT tunes for life. Gains you horsepower under the curve and peak! Great mod.
subframe connectors: They hold the car tighter
CAI: looks cool under the hood and maybe has a little HP gain. These can be cheap from American Muscle
Upper plenums: better air flow and only cast like $100ish
Cat back: car sounds way better! Nice mod. Some HP gain
Under drive pullies: maybe 1rwhp. adn 1mpg gain. Not where you should start.
I hope this helps

Gears and Tuner would me mine. You don't "need" a tuner for gears, but it will allow you to re-calibrate the speedo for the gears.

Jazzer is right though, what do you want to do with the car? Street? Strip? Auto-X? Track?

I'd get a catback/midpipe combo, gears/tuner, then as far as bolt-ons cai, tb/plenum. Underwdrive pulleys aren't worth your time.. But like they all said above before you start modding too much decide what your gonna do because I decided to go supercharged and have gotten rid of all bolt-ons except tb/plenum

I came in here to say FL-SFCs.
I don't know how people drive these things without 'em.

Of course, #0 is doing a full tune-up and fixing anything that looks sketchy. If you can sneak a mod in while your repairing things (e.g. shocks, brake lines, etc), so much the better.

If it's a T45 car, a shifter would be my #1 priority; need to protect that tranny.
