How much timing with meth and stock motor?
Some of you probably know Im buying an AIS trunk mount kit. Ordering it Wednesday
Going to run probably boost juice which is 49% methanol and 51% water. Run 2 jets, one pre blower, one pre throttle body. Im switching from my terrible intercooler and 2.87 pulley to a CX 4 core and 3.12 pulley. That alone with the extra CFM and not spinning the blower as hard should free up some power. Not that I really care, but Id like to be around 390-395rwhp with that setup at 10-11psi. Without Meth. With meth I should be over 400rwhp easy. But how much timing can I run? I plan on having my tuner write me 3 tunes 1 - No meth 2 - Meth but stock timing which is 15* more so for daily driving wise 3 - Meth on with more aggressive timing for track days. What would be good and safe? About 19-20*? And what should my AFR be on meth? Around 11.3-11.4? Thanks guys

Any reason why your not using 100% methanol? It's not that expensive. You can get a 5 gallon drum for $50. You will get A LOT more power out of pure methanol.

i'm still self tuning my car, and right now i'm running 18* timing, but some of my friends are running up to like 22* or close to that. i'm conservative compared to their cars, but i'm also interested in where you're going with this, because i have a 3.12 pulley, and i you probably hate me because i didnt sell it to you. what was you're timing at with the 2.87?

I would expect to see 20 - 24 degrees. I would start with 18 and go from there.

Cool sounds good to me, thanks man! Fuck I wonder if I could hit the 420rwhp mark....I would honestly only use that for track days. Trying to keep this motor togeather for another year

![]() any reason why you dont want to run straight meth? you will get some sick power with M1 meth with less timing

Idk, think maybe it might be to much on the stock motor? I know its obviously safe, but itll still pick up xx amount of power. dont want xx to be to much

its definitely safe. Since you wont need to run as much timing, the chance of detonation is reduced. Plus meth has great cooling properties
![]() On my pump gas setup without meth and 22psi the car made 846hp. same tune with meth and a little more timing it made over 1000! so it really adds a lot.

i would imagine you would be able to stay at the same timing and make more power.

I would imagine 18* is a pretty damn safe conservative number for methanol.

Shaun that 3.12 is gona put you somewhere in the 15-16 PSI range with the 4 core. Im running a 2.9 and make 20-21 psi with the 4 core at around 6400 RPM.

Not with the S trim. And Si trim most definitley. Lots of people get around 9psi with the 4 core, a powerpipe and 3.33 pulley. Im not running a powerpipe, so I should be around 10-11psi

I think you should safely be able to run 19*. You can safely run 17* with one form of cooling so with two forms 19* shouldn't be a problem.
