99-00 is a windsor block, t45 trans, full plastic pi manifold, pressed on cam gears, different timing cover (I think), and slightly different interior.

Some have adj. headrest. 99-04 you got gt, cobra, Mach 1 buillitt.

As far as how they mount and operate yes, but one is a long snout, and one is shorter.

99-01 have 8 bolt flywheel / 01-04 6 bolt flywheel, Windsor with Windsor heads / 01-04 with Romio block-heads, 99-01 rear spoiler is different, 99-01 MAF has separate temp sensor / 01-04 has built in temp sensor.
