What shorties, if any, are worth a damn?

Like the title says, are any shorty headers worth it, or ate our stock mani's just as good? I just thought about this for my engine build, when it happens lol, and the reason for shorties is cuz of living in Nazi, I mean California. If none are worth it, I'll keep stock, but my plan is boost and n2o.

I've got BBK shortys. The fitment is great. As far as performance, they are absolutely better than the stock manifolds, but I don't know what kind of gains you'll get. I never drove the car with manifolds on it. If you're planning on going boost someday I would say that at the very least do shortys (unless you're going with an on3 FF turbo system). You can cram air and fuel in but don't forget you need to get the gases out too.

I've never seen a Ford Racing shorty header that is equal length like the BBK.

most shorties only pick up 3-4hp, not exactly blowing the stock mani's away

ANY aftermarket exhaust manifold MUST meet C.A.R.B. approval for smog testing in Cali or 100% no go I just purchased some JBA shorties:

The only real advantage is gonna be a bit less heat under the hood. They certainly wont hurt HP/T gains, but they are of little other benefit. The best prie I could find was $500 at BuyJBA.com. They come with a sticker that MUST be under the hood so that a smog-dood/doodette can see it at smog time

I have the JBA's.
Fitment and quality is good. There was a little slag that can be touched up with a dremel if you're really concerned with it. Not a big deal. Follow the torque pattern and sequence and you shouldn't have any problems.

I've had the JBA headers and they were very good quality. Made my exhaust sound nicer too. I had to switch from BBK LT's to the JBA shorties because living in CA and the LT's hung too low which scraped everything. . .
