DYNO? MAF?
I have an 01 GT and plan on getting dyno'd at the begining of next month. My first question is why do some dyno's have differnet numbers? My local shop told me to expect 10% less numbers than on a dyno jet.... He also told me that I should by a 90mm MAF before I go in. I will have LT's,or x, CAI, 75mm TB, and fox lake intake manifold, and UDP's.
Should I buy the MAF? |

That MAF seems to be overkill to me.
The reason dynos read diff. is because diff brands base their readings off other variables. Sounds to me that the place you are going has a Mustang dyno. Those #'s are based off a load that the Mustang dyno uses. Where as a Dynojet is not loaded. The power #'s on a loaded type dyno are generally more accurate then a Dynojet. You also have to consider elevation, air temps, how the dyno is actually set-up (you can adjust the load and such) and ect........... Regardless a dyno is still just a tool for tuning. If your tune is right and the car makes low #'s but runs awesome at the track, then who cares. Track #'s are the ones that count to me.

I understand that the number doesn't matter because it will run exactly the same regardless. Should I get a MAF or just run the stock one?

I would use the stock MAF. It's good to around 360 rwhp.
Conventional wisdom says that Mustang Dynos read lower than Dynojets. In general that may be true but my car has been on both and the differences wasn't much. Actually one Dynojet read lower than the Mustang Dyno. Tempature, humidity, and altitude all affect horsepower. So uncorrected numbers can vary a lot. There are two standard correction programs that compensates for these environmental conditions: SAE and STD (also called STP). But they have different baselines. Because of this STD corrected numbers are typically 3-4% higher than SAE corrected numbers. The numbers in my signature are all from the same pull on a Dynojet. On that particular day the STD correction moved the numbers up while the SAE correction moved the numbers down.
