Dead horse, lets beat it.
Ok so i know this topic is unbelievably over posted so i appologize....
I have a JLT intake on my Mach 1 right now, but i own a C&L intake that i pulled off my first Mach 1 before it died, lol. My question here is since i own both price isnt an issue, should i go ahead and swap out My JLT with my C&L. Ive heard it flows better, ive also heard that the performance difference is Nill, and also that C&L is better if you plan on more seriously modding your car. What do you guys think, switch it and sell the JLT? C&L def looks better i think, my elbow on my jlt is all worn from the hood. Thanks and sorry again for beating a dead horse.

![]() Haha. You probably wont see much performance differences. But it seems like you want to switch it out. So go ahead . P.S you should post these kinda threads in the 99-04 section. Probably would see more answers faster?

Im not really concerned about performance really, i have the whole c&l intake except for the housing around the filter, but i have that part from my JLT. The JLT is nice but the elbow is all worn, i think the C&L is just a more durable and better made product. Plus it looks 10 times better, lol. Plus i have the MAF from my other mach too, b/t that and the JLT i should be about to make a couple hundred bucks...ish

im kinda still deciding, on one hand the JLT very fat and short, and i could sell the C&L for more, but the C&L is SEXY man.
To be honest i think im gonna sell the C&L and get a little more money for it. The JLT looks sweet cause it matches my car lol, My black 03 has the black valve covers too, everythings black so it kinda fits, i just wish it didnt have the wear on the elbow from the hood.

The "best" based on general consensus are most likely going to JLT and C&L, airaid makes nice intake and Macs are bad either but it all depends on the combination of price, quality and performance. Jlts are effing huge and C&L is cast aluminum, which will last forever. I think with intakes, u get what u pay for.

FIPK is a great intake, i would definitely call it one of the top of the lines, i had an FIPK on a v6 that i had for years, plus with the K&N they have Dyno sheets on most of there CAIs so you can really tell what it does at the ground. On the s/c cobras and other boosted fords they offer around 30hp difference on the dyno (obviously because theyre boosted). KN fitment and finish are really good. They almost look like something that would come from the factory. I like the JLT, as i said earlier, cause its effin HUGE lol.
Like also stated above, with intakes i think you get what you pay for mostly, and FIPK isnt the cheapest lol.

Do you have the C&L maf to go with the C&L intake? If so, use either or (JLT/C&L) with said MAF.

you're just going to be changing them for looks, so whichever looks better go with it. the jlt is plastic, wont hold up as good as aluminum, however should still last a very long time and it will resist heat more, and vice versa with the c&l. will last forever however the pipe will get hotter causing the incoming air to be hotter.
I honestly dont think you'll see any gain, even comparing the stock intake to the c&l or jlt, you're only gonna pick up maybe 2-3 hp. so, what i would do is find out which one would sell for more money, and sell it. with the money buy a used tuner, or a o/r midpipe, something you'll actually see gains from.

They all work about the same. It doesn't matter if you have the $85 American Muscle one or one that wsa $200. They all flow about the same... You can max out a stock MAF on anyone of them.

You just answered your question right there. I have a JLT ram intake but would go with a C&L any day for looks alone. I bet you feel zero performance difference between the two. |

I think im gonna Keep the JLT b/c its effin huge, and straight, and i think plastic will make for better air intake temperatures than aluminium. Plus it looks good, JLTs look sick on Black mustangs. After comparing the 2 the C&Ls piping looks little next to the JLT. And yes i still have the MAF that was mounted in the C&L, i think im just gonna sell it along with my MGW shifter, i should be able to get a couple hundred outta those. Its probably gonna go into the DA polisher and compounds for the mach.
