any ill effects to mounting bottle in the car?

I'm fed up with getting caught with my bottle off on the road, and dont want to spend 200+ on a remote opener. now that i have a tune that i can switch on the fly, I'm heavily considering making myself a rear seat delete and mounting the bottle on that. only con i can really see to it is i lose the ability to have 4 people in my car, i'd be stuck with one open spot in the rear. but the more i think of it i cant remember the last time i had 4 people in my car lol. any opinions fellas?

Tell you're friends to try to keep up in their own car, cause there's no room in yours.

Keep seats and mount the bottle between the two.

^^^^This. I've always sat my bottle (in the brackets) in the floor between the front and rear passenger seats in the foot well. Angle the pick up tube to the back at a 45 degree angle with the valve knob towards the trans tunnel and you can easily turn the valve on and off.

I dont know how i would be able to mount the bottle inbetween the rear seats. and about on the floor, I did that on my '95, didn't like it. I couldn't see my pressure gauge from the drivers seat very well.

I have my 20lb bottle mounted between the seats and it works fine. All I have to do is peek over and check the guage real quick. I like this method a lot better then buying extra crap.

Mine is a street car... a family car at that! I have all four seats and cruise control!!!!!! I just moved my bottle to the trunk this winter, it's the first time it hasn't been behind the seat in 20 years of using nitrous.

Are you saying I'm full of shit Nick? I do have cruise control... I may have stretched the family car part though.

OP: Why not remote mount the gauge???? Behind the seat with a jacket laid over it kept mine hidden but easily accessed for all those years. Sure is convenient, not to mention you can snatch it out and leave it wherever you want without having to unbolt anything as the it's sandwiched between the front and rear seat.

im pretty sure if the bottle is in the cab you have to have a blow down tube, if you dont already have one i would get one.

You do have to have a blowdown tube to be NHRA legal. I've never had a blowdown tube.

yeah i think i'm just gonna get an electronic gauge and remote opener. this is my only car, and if my gf's feeling frisky and we got a bottle in the back seat that means no fun. hahaha.

I have never used a blow down tube either. The last three cars I have ran nitrous on I just put the bottle behind the front passenger seat and pushed the seat back to hold the bottle down. Done it like that for a few years and no issues.

Makes it very easy to turn on if needed.
