epiccc win for me tonight!!

So I finally got my cobra tank and pumps in tonight...sounds easy right? Not when you're OCD like me lol I resealed the whole catback, painted it flat black and cleared it up to the weld right behind the hump, then I polished and cleared it back to the tips. I also touched up some undercoating here and there. Im not trying to talk it up but holy shit does this car have clean tin under it! Not even a spec of rust anywhere! I also took apart the rear brakes and re-painted calipers (red), brackets (gloss black), and rotors (flat black) and then cleared everything. All I have left to do in the back is put the brakes back together, polish the tips, align them and level them.

On to the fun part though...the tank/pumps

Both were bought from the corral, tank from texas and pumps from chicago so needless to say the tank was spotless! I sprayed it flat black just so that bright gray color that it originally was wouldnt stand out like a sore thumb lol The moron that I bought the tank from was either in a rush or a few fries short of a happy meal so he decided to cut all of the hookups off of the evap. system lines that tie in with the existing lines in the car... jagoff so I had to use the evap. system off of my GT tank...which ended up being ok because the one fitting was in a different spot than the cobra tank anyway and wouldnt have lined up with the rest of my stock GT setup. I must have drawn the short straw in the gene pool with the pumps/hat too. Again the guy was either in a rush, didnt have the right tools, or needs to be beaten because he decided to cut the line that comes out of the hat right as soon as it goes from braided to hard line. I found out quite quickly why he thought that was a good idea...the tangs on the inside of the quick disconnect were bent to hell and back and there was no way at this point that even the propper tools (which I have) to take it apart were even gonna remotely work lol So I ended up taking tin snips and cutting the bell on the fitting right at the hat until I could pull the little tin basket with the retaining tangs on it out. the line came off like butter then...go figure lol

As soon as I tie up the few loose ends back there its on to the cams!

sorry for the long read...Im just excited to be making progress

Ill say what I know at least one person is thinking...... COOL STORY BRO!

If you wanna take the time to hell yes! 120 to 400 to 600 grit to scotch brite will get you a nice satin finish at the minimum. If they are really shitty start with 80 but thats extreme and its gonna cut in to the tips pretty good. If you want a more polished look just keep using finer and finer paper up until scotchbrite.
