New to sn95's with some questions

I might make the switch and finally buy something other than a fox for now.I saw this real nice 01gt and had some questions. It has 128.000 on it and is pretty clean. The interior is spotless, but the mach 460 on/off volume button is stuck on full blast. The engine kinda concerns me as the engine is way dirtier than the car.I might be splitting hairs here but it stood out to me.I drove it and it ran great nice power, sounded great.etc.Now is there anything i should look out for on it?,I might buy it today.Heres the link.2001 Ford Mustang GT

I'd do all the usual, check the oil and trans fluid (if it's an auto), air filter.. you know see if they kept up on general maintenance type stuff. There's nothing special about these cars really. If it sounds good and runs good I'd go for it.

As for the dirty engine bay, probably just never been cleaned.

+1

And don't worry about the mileage, mine has 115,xxx and it still runs like new! There's other people on here that are running blowers or nitrous on high mileage cars as well with no problems

I thankfully sold my 90lx5.0 last week (bottomless money pit).I was really impressed at how it rode and the power was pretty good. Its good an hpipe (sounds awesome)and 3.73's, short throw shifter and its been lowered a little bit,the springs are red,not sure what kind they are.Now about that stereo the on/off volume isnt working, when its turned on the volumes all the way up,and doesnt want to go down.Anybody else have that problem.Ok what are some good first mods for these?Should i just go same route ive gone with my foxes? gears(already has'em)SFC's? cold-air?I ve got a couple hundy left to do some stuff so shot some ideas, thanks

The dealer should clean the engine bay before putting the car out....

SN95's are awesome cars and run forever as long as they were maintained correctly. I would check the carfax if possible to see how often it was serviced or ask for a service report. The dealer should have no problem providing you with this information. I had a 2002 stage 2 roush with 130,xxx miles on her sprayed all the time and never had problems. Mustangs are amazing and always will be!

Its not a dealer. Its a shop that services postal trucks. The titles in the owners wifes name.I just ran a carfax. Not much service history,3 owners. Now for the weird part.On 5/25/04 it was titled and the odometer said 36,569.On 12/30/04 it was titled again and the odometer said 30,596.Carfax says "mileage inconsistency".I asked the currant owner and they weren't sure.Im hoping it was just a clerical error.Whats your take on it?

It could be. As long as it checks out I don't think it's that big of a deal. Are you planning on using it or selling it? I think that would be the key about the inconsistency. It's already lowered with gears. That's a heck of a car.

save the extra cash you said you have for FI... oh and as for the inconsistency in mileage, it doesn't really make much of a diff since you already know it's a high mileage car... i really don't see 125k and 145k as much of a difference, you know you're going to have minor problems pop up and things need to be replaced

Forced induction, save up for that unless the filter or current intake needs replaced then update to a nice cai.. Looks pretty good, it's the inside of the engine that counts anyway

Forced Induction (i.e. Supercharged or Turbocharged).

I always just use spray detailer like megiuars and do as good as I can lol I put some type of foaming cleaner on it once and gently hosed it down and it worked but ruined a coil shortly after
