1st car, 2002 Mustang GT, what mods should i put in it?

I'm saving up money just to put in my 1st car. I'm around $1000 right now. Its just like you would get it off a dealer back when it was new. What should i do first?

Full length subframe connectors are an absolute must. That should be the first thing you do. Then thow a set of 4.10's in the rear. Between those two you can easily get it done for under $1k and you will notice a big difference in the performance of the vehicle.

Oh, and welcome to Modded Mustangs.

You should do a search and read one of the many threads that are posted about first mods.

since everyones gonna ask before they give you good answers il do it first. Whats your ultimate goal for the car? ex. drag, high hp, twistys, DD ect...

without knowing this id say performance mods: sub-frame connectors, gears!, a tuner, and maybe a decent cold air intake n short throw. to start. thts 1k including install cost of gears.
visual mods: w.e you like... nice sticky tires!

My ultimate goal is to make it look as good and sound as good as possible. I won't be racing or anything with it so speed is not a huge factor.

figure out what you want the car to be and make it your own. i believe you can have alot of fun with alittle investment. take your time and spend wisely.
my opinoin on a first car mod would be a s/s catback and tuner. as a first car gears may not be a good idea until you are comfortable with the car. it can be a handful!!
enjoy , drive safe, and welcome to the mustang community.

edit: for sound, id reccomed, borla cat back, catless x pipe (if legal where u are) LT headers, and some nice 4in tips=]

i have 20% on my windows and ive never been pulled over in va. Even though its not registered here =) post a pic of your car! If your just interested in sound and visual then get a nice catback for now and do some simple stuff like what angrystang said. you can do most of that for under 1k if you shop smartly. check out the classified section here and check out corral.net for stuff. Also, where at in virginia are you located?

My suggestion would be to LOWER YOUR CAR, followed by, a exhaust set up, then air intake, then a handheld tuner.

Or throw in things like a good radio system, not no crazy dunk rider 67 impala on 24s type thing, but like you know some decent component speakers with a good head unit. Tints, HIDs if you'd like (but those might get you pulled over). Or just stay on your local craigslist like a vulture scavenging for parts and pick things up as they appear until you run out of money.

OP. Welcome! Being young you will get targeted for things like tint faster than the rest of us. If I were you I would buy subframe connectors (the car will handle a lot better), a CAT BACK exhaust for sure (sounds cool), Cold Air intake for $85 off American Muscle (it will look cool when you open the hood to show your friends), and finally a short throw shifter. That should take care of that wad of cash!

check out some good sites and add everything you want to a cart and see how much itd end up being. http://www.americanmuscle.com http://latemodelrestoration.com

roughly:
chin spoiler 80
headlights 150
hid kit 60 (ddmtunning)
lowering springs 200 (i cut my stock springs and am happy)
caster camber plates 189 (only get maximum motorsports)
rims and tires 500 used to 1500+ new
gears 300 plus 300 install
sub frame connectors 140 (again maximum motorsports)
20% tint 100-150

pick nd choose. u can get some nice stuff done for 1k and most of it excluding gears u can do urself (unless you know how to do gears that is)

Edit: if you have the patience and idk how to say it but aptitude (not trying to sound rude, some ppl just dont know there way around the internet very well) you can buy almost all this stuff used and save a lot on forums and places like that. Goodluck!
