Strut Question

My mechanic told me my struts are bad, isnt a strut same as a shock or damper?

The guy before me put in eibachs so idk why its bad, how can he even tell when its on the lift?

What are good replacements for the front struts?

You can blow a shock or strut out at anytime. Just because you got a name brand product on your car doesn't mean it has any life left in it. I would guess that the last guy enjoyed those struts and now you need new ones. Even the cheapest new struts are better than worn out ones.

I've heard nothing but good reviews from eibach pro dampers. They arent the most aggressive shock but they'll get the car lower, handle better and still ride well. If thats what you want buy new ones. If not then go with some tokicos or something. I had the pleasure of riding in 3 different cars with 3 different shock and spring packages. I liked the eibach package more than the rest by far... but I like a good ride more that eating corners for breakfast.

No, just order an eibach pro front strut(if you can find one) All I can find online is a kit for all 4 corners.

I'm not a mechanic but I'm pretty sure it's your spring that holds your tire to the road when going over bumps. I guess if your strut was valved for a really stiff spring and you used it on a soft spring, that would cause the problem you described. If your shock was blown out, then your tire would stay planted to the road but it'd be bouncy

If you are questioning your mechanic, maybe it's time to seek a second opinion, and maybe a mechanic you trust.
