PCM compatibility

I have reason to believe my car needs a PCM. Is it true I can pick up a used one from any V8 5speed coupe or convertible? My car is a V8 5speed convertible. Thanks?

ya but maybe your pats system will start to act up and will need to either take it to the dealers to reprogram or disable pats altogether

+1 to all the above with one exception...its not a matter of it "might act up". It's going to act up. on a 2000 GT...you will not be able to just plug and play the new one. Unless you get a used one and get all the other stuff that can not be turned off when you disable PATS system. For example...if you get a used one you will also have to get the speedometer cluster and a few other things to make it a plug and play. If you get a new pcm, take the PCM to the ford dealer and have them reprogram it for your car. If you don't...the car will not start when you plug in the new one. SO you have to be mindful of where you are when you swap it out.

Ok, where is the PCM in the car? Passenger kick panel?

Passenger kick panel. It a lil tricky to get out, but not too bad. Each ECU has a 4 character box code. Ford has about 9000 different box codes, so good luck finding the same one. However, if you disable PATS there should be no issues
