I wonder if that will work if the car's orginal tune is no longer in it's computer? Will a new tuner treat the current tune as the stock tune for the car or will he get an error message?

Are you sure your car doesn't have a performance chip with the tune on it?

Just bring it to a respectable mustang performance shop in your area, chances are there are more than one. Have him put it on the dyno and take a look at it and get his/her advice. Enough said

Putting it on the dyno is pointless if you have no where to store the tune.

Dont worry about getting it on the dyno right now. You need to check your ecm to see if there is a chip installed on the car.. and if there is no chip you need to take it to a place like the dealership and see if your ecm has a aftermarket tune on it. Then look into getting a tuner and a dyno done.

If there is a chip does that mean that the tune can be changed with a hand held tuner?

If there is a chip the tune can be chaged by a tune shop.

I have no idea exactly where the chip goes because I don't have one.
