so some kid i know has a subaru wrx automatic bone stock, not an sti and he was talking about racing the other night. i have an 02 GT 5 speed with o/r x pipe, CAI, STS, hypertech programmer, underdrive pulleys. i dont know anything about those cars so i was wondering how u guys think i would do

Yeah, all wheel drive cars launch hard off the line. If she's an 05 of the line its a drivers race, 04 and before u should be able to run him down no matter what

all wrx's are turbo cars, they aren't shit! here is a little video of my buddy'd eclipse killing one. mods on the wrx is sti exhaust, and sti intake. mods on the eclipse is cai, cat back, and zex 75 shot that didnt start spray till 3000 rpm's.

yeah remember i even put 2 t connectors so its got a very good connection...it works when i floor it from a dead stop and in first but when i auto shift or let the computer shift it then it cuts in and out in 2nd...

you shouldnt have any trouble beating him from a launch or a roll. ive ridden in them and raced them and its no problem beating them

an 05 wrx does the quarter in 14.3. They put the same motor from the sti into them and downtuned the turbo signifigantly. She's got more balls in the higher rpms then the previous models. If it launches hard on you, and hits all the right shifts, you might not be able to take him down. Now pre 05 your fine, those cars are turds unless you put some dough into them. The only reason the 05's stand a chance stock 4 stock is because of that motor. 2.5 for a 4 cylinder is like a 427 for a v8.

I learned the hard way not to mess with awd cars, there in a different, completely dif class.

Go from a roll, he'll eat ur pipes. Standing still.....all i gotta say is drive like your burt renyolds and u got Buford T Justice up ur a$$

there's a lot of misinformation in this thread. the first year the 2.5 went in the wrx was 06 and these cars run mid 13's stock. my wrx, an 03, runs a 14.1 from the factory and 0-60 in 5.4 sec. right now it's stage 2 reflash and full turboback exhaust and it runs mid 13's. if i up the boost a little it can run in the low 13's. the guy that posted his buddy ran a 14.3 modded, he needs to learn how to drive his car.
to the op, you should have no trouble beating the automatic wrx unless he has some tranny work, the auto's are snails off the line but pull harder on the top end.

One i was reading the quarter mile times out of motor trend. two the 05 06 this was a mishap typo. I type fast and don't proof read. My bad. I had an 03 gt auto for a few months and raced an o3 wrx auto from a 5 miph roll and raped his ass. we went from a dead stop and he got a car ahead of me and i had to play catch up till i hit 80, then i passed him and at 100 he shut down and stopped trying.

Those cars launch hard, and as I said its a drivers race.

huh? what you trying to say? the eclipse is a v6 gt that runs 14.30's, thats moving for that car. if you think he needs to learn how to drive that car, then you don't know shit! the wrx's aren's shit is stock form! it takes intake, exhaust, tune, little more boost to even make me look twice at it.
