Gear install

I'm going to order some gears shortly, I'll likely go with the ford racing ones on americanmuscle.com I'm thinking I might get the gear package with the oil, tuner, and gears. I've read a whole bunch of posts and the sticky on the 3.73 vs. 4.10's.. Everyone around here tells me I'm crazy for considering 4.10s, says it will rev extremley loud and what not. Are they that bad? I do the odd highway trip and don't want to be revving like 3500 at 70mph. Are they bareable on the highway? also should I get the bearing kit for the gears or just leave it. The car is an 04 GT with 12,000 miles on it.

my plans for the car are for it to be N/A. I don't have any intensions of camming it or doing any headwork. Basically just full bolt ons for now, the car is completely stock right now.

lol at 70mph ur gonna be around 2500-2600 rpm i think...its not bad. I just got mine installed a little bit ago and when im at 60 my rpms are about 2150 and thats no complaint to me. If you are staying n/a then you'll regret not getting 4.10's but if ur getting a power adder get 3.73's. also yes i would do the bearings even though you dont really need to but motive bearings i'd think would be better than the ones you have in there now. not that expensive either.

I would say go for the 4.10's...

There really is not a huge gas mileage difference between 3.73's and 4.10's...You will not like the 3.73's if you are going to stay N/A...

IMHO you should go for the 4.10s...

Replace all bearings and seals while you have it out...Its kinda peace of mind to know you have all new stuff in there...

I absolutely love my 4.10s and would never go back. I have no dislikes about them.

sounds good I'll order the frpp 4.10s tonight with the oil and likely the sct x calibrator 2 tuner. Also one last question... Do I need like an anti friction additive to add to the gear oil??? Do to the limited slip. Or does the royal purple come with that stuff already added to it.

we put a bottle of friction modifier in mine when we did the swap, and you can get it at most part stores for a few dollars
