clutch slipping??
okay so normal driving im fine but sometimes if i stomp it in first and snatch 2nd i hear a screech like a belt slipping but today when it did it i felt it slip but it only did it for a second.. im pretty sure this is the clutch but want to be sure.. i don't understand why it would slip though the clutch still seems to be in good shape..

yeah its most likely clutch slip. my cobra did the same thing when the clutch started goin out. it would grab fine all through first gear and when I hit second it would slip for about a second and a half and then it would grab and pull again. i highly recommend u take it easy on the car, especially if u dont have the money for a clutch change right now. with easy drivin the clutch should last until u get the money to replace it. i wish i would have done that, lol

even though the clutch is still tight and lets out mid ways out it could still be it?? or do you think it may be the belt slipping ?? could the belt make this feeling also?? the belt looks to be okay.. i have the money to replace it.. so if it goes out it wont hurt anything in the trans will it?? i'll probably change all the fluids soon.

If you plan on modding I would just change the clutch to be sure because, it definatly sounds like it's the clutch anyway. Spec, Ram, Centerforce, etc.....make good clutches, but shop around and see what fits your needs, depending on the power you plan on eventually having etc...Good Luck!

belt? clutch?
two very different things your talking about here dude. If you can feel the clutch slipping, then the clutch is slipping. If it's just a screech, then it might just be the belt.

It's possible, but I think you would hear more screeching before anything else. So I still say you need a new clutch. |
