Upgrading Rear-end
I want to upgrade my mostly stock rear end before I ship the car back to the east coast and put some slicks on it.
I'm thinking 31 spline Forged Mosers. Just not sure what type of posi to get. Thinking the Detroit true-trac. What else would I need other then the axels and the differential? Just asking so I can look into ordering all the stuff I need.

most axles come with axle bearings and seals. you will need to go buy inner and outer pinion bearings, diff and gears. if you want welded axle tubes, then you would want to do it at installation. how much power you going to be running? i have a t-lok, alloy axles, and jegs gears.

I would recommend this being a good time to change the gearing to what you want it to be...
A diff girdle is a suggestion like said above...You can use the stocker but why not go ahead and do all the imporvements at once... I have 31 spline Strange Axles and a 31 Spline FRPP Diff (Supposedly Carbon Clutches)...It will work fine for me... If the axles do not come with new bearings I would buy a set and replace them...No matter the mileage... |

I am running strange 31 spline axles, FRPP 4.10s, and a True-Trac in mine. If I had to do all over I would not use the True-Trac. It makes some noise when you take off from a dead stop. And come to find out this is very common with the True-Trac. But other than that it has been a great.

Well, my end goal is 600-700 rwhp. I know the forged axles and all the bearings, new posi to match the 31 spline.
I think I might keep the 4.10's. With some wide slicks adjustable coil overs and new control arms I should hook up pretty good from a dig. Only question I have is: What is involved in welding the axle tubes? I've heard about it and have a good idea what it is, but i'm still unsure on what exactly it is.

its when you stitch the tubes to the center section. under a hard launch the tubes can spin in the center section so this stopes it. also welded torque boxes are a must if you plan on running slicks.
