I need some help (Nitrous jet question)

Could someone please tell me what size jets you are running for a particular HP setting? I have checked some of the nitrous jet calculators, but they disagree with each other.

This is from a coldfusion kit. The ratings are for crank hp, and not for rear wheel hp.

100shot-.052 n2o : .029 fuel
125shot-.057 n2o : .031 fuel
150shot-.063 n2o : .035 fuel
200shot-.073 n2o : .039 fuel

Hope this helps.

Uh Oh, I think I know why my car has been screaming like a bat out of hell lately. I had a slight mix up. I thought I installed a 75 HP jet a few weeks ago, but my car has been an absolute beast. I'm talking about burning the tires at 70 in third gear.
I ordered a .057" jet from dynotune, and when it came in, I took my old jet to compare sizes. Boy was I surprised- the jet I had in my car was about twice as big as the .057" (or so it looked). After some careful cleaning and polishing, I can clearly see a marking. It is stamped either 89 or 68. I'm pretty sure it's an 89 because it is way bigger than the .057. I'm pretty sure the limiting factor was my injection tube- it looks a litle smaller than the jet, but not much. Either way, I'm surprised I still have a motor. I have run about 15 lbs. of nitrous through my motor on this jet.

Thank God, I went and looked again and it is 86. Also, it came out of a Compucar kit. Why is it so much bigger than the jets that come in other kits?

acmiller, are you running a wet or dry kit? I'm pretty sure the absence of fuel in the mixture would change the size of the nitrous jets. That could be why we have different size jets for that same hp rating. Also remember that the jets in the coldfusion kits are for flywheel ratings...

I'm running a dry kit. I think that the solenoid used in this kit will not flow any more than a 100 HP shot is what is going on.

Wow... That has to be a tiny solenoid. I always thought that a solenoid would flow as much as any jet size could handle. I'm not sure though. I don't know a ton about nitrous components yet. You said the jet came out of a compucar kit right? where is the solenoid from?

I checked on compucar's web site and the most basic kit the sell will flow up to a 125 shot. This means that the soleniods will handle at least that much nitrous. I would assume that they probably use the same soleniods on all their kits, except for the more for professional set ups, like foggers and direct port kits. But then again, you know what happens when assuming things...

You should call there tech support Monday when they open back up for business.

I called over there already and the guy I spoke to was really vague about how much this solenoid would flow.
It is irrelevant at this point. I won't be spraying my motor for a while. It appears as though I have found the breaking point.

312/326 n/a HP + at least 100 HP of giggle gas + 6500 rpms on a daily basis = knock, knock, knock............
It started hearing it this morning coming back from Advanced auto parts with a filter and some oil. I'll just save the new filter for the next motor. It was only a matter of time before it went, but I was hoping to get a few more thousand miles out of it. Oh well, I'll just nurse it around for a few weeks until my new motor is complete.

I just got back from gettting my new block and a 6 bolt crank. As soon as i get the rods, pistons, and get it together I'll be going for the 200 shot.

BTW: I know this has been brought up before, but I'm going for 350+ at the wheels on motor.

And I'm sure you'll get there. If I'd never rode in your car I'd still have mine. I'm just sorry I won't get a chance to ride in it when you're finished. It was FN brutal as it was.

Are you blaming AC for your decision? Damn it AC what did you do to Timber while he was down there? Now he is scarred for life. LOL

Yes, I'm going to build a n/a set for my GT. After I get block out of the car and get it running on the new motor, I will probably go ahead and build a second shortblock with -22cc pistons. I talked to a local shop about building a turbo set up, and I plan on working on that for the next year or so. I feel like I have all of the tools and knowledge to build a turbo myself since I finally got a good welding set up at my house. I'm just going to keep the 2v and play with it for a while.
