is this normal in an intake?
i bought the car with a BBK CAI. the filter was dirty so i took it apart for the first time. look at the pics and tell me if that metal thing it useful or just restricting the air. i looks kinda homemade.

You talking about the ninja start thingy or the piece of metal inside the intake right above the screen? The ninja start tornado is crap...

the maf screen is supposed to help straighten out the air coming in... aftermarket filters already do this... so the maf screen is just taking up air space inside the intake.

Not enough to notice, but why have it in there if you don't need it... the way I see it the less I have in the way of the air getting into my motor the better it is.
