New Member...need advice on new engine

Hi all! Let me first say Thanks for reading and any input will be appreciated. Here is what we have.

I have an 01 GT, had the engine built, put in an Eagle 5.0 stroker kit with dished pistons, all forged. Compression is 9.36 to 1. Installed Stage 3 Patriot performance heads with stage 2 Comp cams. BBK long tube headers and BBK X-pipe, stock mufflers. Everything else, ie..intake, plenum, injectors, MAF and all is stock.

Put her on the dyno, pulled 291 RWHP and 317 ft/lbs torque. The guy at the dyno said I had a really nice power plant with a "cork" stuck in it. He said the Torque curve was really nice as it pretty much flat lined that torque rating for over 1500 rpm.

My question is what should I do next? I was hoping to get 375 - 400hp naturally aspirated. The tuner said this was going to be tough to do. I hate to spend the money on an intake and plenum if the only way I will reach these kind of numbers is by blowing it.

Again your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated!

375rwhp is a lot to go for n/a. c&l maf, c&l inlet or jlt, 70mm t/b, plenum, or at least have the stock ones p&p'd, intake manifold (trick flow or hardballr), udp's, coils, 24lb injectors, might get you to 330rwhp with a damn good tune. the stage 3 heads are made to flow a lot, but will need boost to take full advantage. other than that, n2o.

yeah bro, welcome to MM

and like Sweet2K said...400 would be a golden number in any 2v owner...unfortantly the 2v cant flow worth crap in n/a trim and there are veterans here that can say the same...out of 2 options, most will say either spray the living crap out of it, or FI (Centrifigual, Turbo, Twin Screw...which ever floats your boat)...

One other option is to of course dump the 03-04 Cobra motor and call it a day...but thats a more expensive route and not worth it if your looking for bargain prices to increase HP, but if you have the cash thats what most people do...Also you could always get a 5.4 navigator engine switch up the heads get a sullivan intake manifold and get all the fixings to fit that big motor in and be a n/a aspirated beast from hell .

But anyways, yeah, there's not many options for our 2v's except Blown or Sprayed for major HP

Too far into this engine to go back now. I am almost sure I am just going to go ahead and blow it, probably a Kenne Bell. However I guess wishful thinking got me to wondering about n/a!

So if I do a a twin screw with all the other bolt ons what do you think I could expect?

Again, thanks for your help!

well with forged internals and the fact you got your stroked to a 5.0 you could go balls to the wall and get the 2.6L kit from KB, though you may need to dump additional money in fuel components to keep up with the air flow demand, like larger injectors and a 90mm MAF just for starters, KB's site has the recommended entry mods you should buy to support the 2.6 kit, everything else not stated is highly up to you.

Right now at 291 WHP your probably pushing 342-364 at the flywheel depening on your parasitic loss from drivetrain components. Seeing as you've already forged and stroked the motor, money is not a problem for you

since you have a completely built motor, if you upgraded the fuel system, i could see upwards of 500rwhp no problem with a KB... but then you have the problem of putting all that low end torque to the ground... personally i think a procharger would be the more "tire friendly" route.

the biggest problem with your n/a combination right now is the intake. A stroker motor wants to breath so the stock intake is very restricting. With all the stuff you have i think you have some more left in it. What tuning are you using. I made around the same with my diablo and switched to SCT and gained 25hp. I say spray on it since its built and wait for the tq.

Put a centri blower on it, not a roots. Vortech or paxton FTW! You've got the perfect build to crank up the boost. You could see 500 easy but you'll need the fuel system to back it.

thatmotor will hold as much as you want to put to it. you will have to look into a return style fuel system, build up the trans to hold, build the rear end and get some control arms. that is all dependant on how much power you want to push.

Getting into the 5-figures but I like those Whipple Charged rebuilt 03 Cobra motors, I think they kick the ass of even the 5.4L Ford GT engines and these guys build them to last, thats why they come with 1 or 2 year warantees. Check out Ebay under Cobra Engine or Motor they have some nice strokers complete right down to the oil pan.

+1, build it, boost it, and for the hell of it spray it too! but like i stated before, if run a ton of power, you will need a return style fuel system.

I say boost it also... If you like lots of torque and low end balls get the KB. Other then that I would vote turbos.

I personally think that a Centri blower such as the Novi 2200 will suit him well! It will make boost way up there and not run out of breath! Sure turbos or twins are the best but they are also super expensive!! SO many options!!

I agree with white99stang diablo isnt what its advertised, in the future ill definitly go with a different tuner, either sniper or SCT. I have nearly the same setup as you, except i dont have forged internals. However you can get some more power out of those heads, tweaking the air and fuel. Specifically go with bigger inectors then, if you dont already have the airflow end built up do that as well. you should be seeing 350ish at the wheels with that setup. I say you should have 330+, you also need to get a good tune.

Sorry I have not responded before now, been out of town. Thanks for everyone's input. I sincerely do appreciate your time.

I have an SCT tune. That was done while she was on the dyno. The problem there is the front o2 sensors were not hooked up, so he did the best he could. I will carry it back now that I have installed the extensions. After hooking them up, it did run smoother. Still have an issue between 2,200 and 3,100 rpm, lots of bogging, after that she runs out pretty well.

This is going to be an ongoing project, I will keep you all posted!
