Just got a 2000 GT, advice on changing Plugs and Springs

Hello All,

I just got a 2000 Mustang GT. I've done all the usual over the weekend(change all the fluids to Royal Purple)

Next week, I plan on changing the spark plugs and springs. Just wanted to check with all of you out there, when

1) to change the plugs, do I need to remove the fuel rail as it looks like the rails are right on top of the coils? Or do I simply loosen the nut, slide the coils to the side a litte and pull it off the plug? (I'm asking cus I havn't even tried yet)

2) when changing springs, do I simply remove the 2 bolts from the front strut to the lower control arm and let the suspension fall down? Or is there much more work invovled? Rear springs - any suggestions.

I've done many other cars, but this is my first mustang. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!!

alright with the plugs, you don't need to remove the fuel rail. Just loosen the nut for each cop and take them off after you unplug it. Make sure your motor is cold, do not over tq the plugs and use a little bit of anti-seize. The springs can be a little bit more of a pain. All you have to do is jack the car up and remove the wheels, brake caliper, and put another jack under the a-arm, remove the 2 bolts holding the strut on the bottom. slowly lower the jack and more than likely the spring will not come out. I use a pry bar and kinda just stand back and pop it out. I have never managed to get it to fly out and i have done it over 10 times. Just take your time and enjoy working on your car.

Thanks!!! I figured you need a jack under the front. How about the rear springs?

Plugs are easy on these cars. Just unplug the coil, remove the bolt and the coil comes right off the plug.

Just don't over torque the new plugs. I hear these heads can strip easy.

yeah, you overtorque them and your gonna pull the threads out of the head. not good. do exactly what white said, pull em cold, and put a little anit-sieze on them and torque to specs and then your good. the back left was the hardest for me
