Flat Tire... DONT MOVE THIS POST I JUST WANT ADVICE!!!!
Ok I know, now shutup. Somebody around my neighborhood is careless with nails and until I find and kill him, Im currently waiting on my third tire in two months to come in for my 2001 GT. DOES ANYONE USE OR KNOW OF 'FIX-A-FLAT'? Does it work with a tread-puncture hole? I know it obviously weakens the integrity of the tire but I cant wait till next week for this thing, I want to drive it this weekend and I do NOT trust plugs.

fix a flat is ok.
yes it works but just like a plug it is only temp until you get a new tire. the only reason it shouldn't work is if you puncture is on the side wall

you can fix-a-flat it then have it patched/plugged. The thing with those quick fixes is that it changes the balancing of the tire due to the way it sets inside and then it slowly eats away a minuscule amount of meat from the inside, but it's definitely an emergency solver.

Your tire guy will love ya for using it. Thats crap sucks to clean off the rims. Sometimes it cakes up and will throw the wheel off balance. I like to think of it as an emergency thing. Just get some tire plugs and slap em in there, real easy to do.

I just bought a can and used it, I came up a few PSI short but it was good enough to test so I put it through the ringer on my block and stopped leaking. I drove up to the gas station and filled the rest with air and its fine now. I already ordered the tire but it wont be in till next week I just wanna know how much street driving I should be doing on it till then...Tonight Im probably gonna be driving about 15 or 20 miles tonight, 10 tomorrow and its about 17 to work Monday morning...Screw the balancing my entire suspension and braking is gonna be overhauled soon anyway but I just wanna make sure I dont get stuck on the highway. (I dont carry a spare, too much weight). Eventually what Im gonna do is take the rear seats out and bolt in a full size spare where the seats were.

Plugs work much better...And the next person that had to take the tires off the rim on your car will thank you...

Plugs are safe. Truck stops put them in semi tires all the time, and if it were at all unsafe DOT would have stopped that a long time ago... Heh, I say that and then think about them letting us use retreads which come apart pretty easy in the summer
I just forked out over 4k to get 8 new drives for my truck. Before that I think I had 4 of them with plugs in them. I use the plugs because the tires are just too exspencive to keep replacing every time I pick up a nail or something. With some luck and the ff you should make it untill you get your new tire, but with a plug you wouldn't need the luck.

Will from my experiments with that is it not to good. But if you need a quick fix then use it. So you know I work at discount tires for 6 years and if you live it in for to long it will start to eat you wheel and for chrome it will fu4k it up. I would take it to a discount tires and get it fix if you have one near you. they should take out the fix a flat for you and it should be free

First of all thanks to everyone for their input, yeah I was nervous tearing up and down the highways last night but unbelievably the tire held every PSI I put in it...and its STILL hard..I've had a lot of bad luck with nails this year, the tire I just punctured and filled is one of two new tires from BF Goodrich G-Force I bought in February after I blew one of my originals, I bought two new because, you know, you want your rear tires to match (and they don't make Essenza in that size anymore) So I had them demount the good one and I took it home. Yesterday, before I got the Fix-A-Flat, I pulled that tire out and THAT had a huge nail shoved thru it!!!! F!!! But now that I know this stuff works so well, Im gonna carry a few cans of it everywhere, and Im getting another rim to use the new tire I just got as a full-size spair...Ive had it up to HERE with petty bullshit like flats when Ive got all this other stuff to waste money on for this car.
