Turtle Wax ICE

I was very hesitant about trying this stuff. I've heard mixed reviews about this wax, most being negative. My sister bought it for her Camaro and didn't like it at all so she gave it to her son who waxes his bike with $14 a bottle wax. After reading up on it a bit I found out why most people don't get good results when they use it. Because it is a synthetic wax it is made to bond with your clear coat on your paint, not the conventional wax on your paint. When people apply it over the wax job they already have it becomes a streaky mess. In order to make it work your old wax must be removed first. I removed mine by washing it with dish liquid. My car hadn't been waxed in like three months so I knew there wasn't much left on there anyway.

Pros:
1. Applies very easy. I did my entire car in less than 30 minutes, but that is whithout using the buffer.
2. safe on your plastic parts. Won't turn them white like wax. As a matter of fact it makes them look better than most other products without making them greasy. I used on everything except the glass and the wheels.
3. Gives a good solid shine and protective coat. It rained about 4 hours ago so I went out and wiped the car down after and it looks like I just washed it again. No water spots.
4. Perfect wax for the guy that would like to wax his car more often but just doesn't get around to it.

Cons:
1. Very streaky at first. You have to wipe it and re-wipe it with a microfiber towel to get all the streaks out, especially on a black car like mine.
2. Very nice shine like a new car, but not a really bright shine like a show car. Of course I haven't used the buffer yet, so I can't say that with 100% certainty.

Pics after I waxed it:

Greasy is the one thing that it wasn't. I didn't think that it would look good because it is so thin so I id the area behind my rear license plate first. After seeing that I did the whole car.

Actually that is the exact opposite. I used it on my wife's white Sonota and I couldn't tell if it was still streaked. You can see EVERYTHING on a black car. LOL

Haha yeah but when you do it right, you notice it more than on a white car. I wax mine and dont notice a difference, but if it was black, i would. and the little scratches and swirls everywhere else too lol

hehe +1 on that....black cars are absolute beauties when you wax and do a full detail, but after about 2 weeks or so...maybe even less...you will see swirl marks and fine scratchs as plan as day on that color, none the less NBK very nice detail bro

Any dark color is like that! I was suprized how hard it was to keep my car clean and look good! I cant keep it clean! I wash it and wax it and the next day its full of dust and pollen and looks terrible!

I don't like many of the products from turtle. The meguires gold class...doesn't do it for me. So my mom and I bought some Zaino for our cars. Got the starter kit and a tire gloss that helps out with the exterior plastic pieces as well

I tried it on my car and it looked good, but it seems like it turned it into a dust magnet. The morning after I had waxed my car it was completely covered with pollen and dust. It was nice though to not have to worry about the plastic. I use dawn to strip the old stuff, and meguires car wash liquid between waxes.

I think the Meguires NXT made my car shine a little more though. I have both setting at home now and was thinking of getting some mothers just to see how it does.

I wash (or as my granny used to say worsh) and wax my car every time I am at the house and get a chance to drive it. I don't have a garage to put it in, so while I am working it just sets in the yard with a car cover over it. The wind really does a number to my car and it usually has a good layer of sand on it and on top of the motor. It looked like a beach under the hood when I changed my plugs. I had to use an air hose to get the sand out of the engine compartment. I think I need a better car cover and some concrete to park it on. LOL

I will end up having to paint it anyway so I'm not too stressed on it. I want to paint it that Mercedes white (bone white? i think it is something like that)

That ice sure made your car look nice though. Looks deep

Same story here.
Looks great for like a week, maybe, and then it doesn't bead water anymore.

I use Maguiers Gold Class and it lasts about 2 months or more outside. I've never gone more than that because I re-wax anyway.

Before I gave thi try I only used turte wax paste. My father has been using that since before I was born. Turtle wax paste with a low speed buffer made one hell of a shine for me, but with this new job I have alot less free time to wash and wax my car. I get out of work at 7 and have a 45 minute ride home. By then the last thing I want to do is wash and wax my car. I gave the ICE a try because of how simple it is.

Baneful I completely agree that it does not shine as bright as paste wax, especialy if you use a buffer. So far I don't seem to have the dust magnet problem, and niether does my wife's car and there are two big trees in front of our house. If you are the type of person that waxes your car once a month or less religiously I wouldn't advise switching to this because you will be disappointed. Like I said I think this is a great wax for the guy that likes to take care of his care but his time is limited and he's kind of lazy. That me to a "T"!

Hehe, I hear ya. I would rather spend the time I have at home spinning my tires and trying to make the car faster over shining it, but if you saw it once I pull the cover off you would say "damn that thing is dirty". hehe

The ice I have is a past as well. I think I will give the liquid a try next time around.
