I'm getting new rod bearings..... HOORAY!!!!

I found where the sound in my motor was coming from, and I also found out that I have basically destroyed my rings with nitrous. The blow by on the compression and oil rings was more severe than I thought. Oh well, here's to a new, happier shortblock.

I'm sure they make tougher bearings and rings... what brand rods did you end up going with?

I could not tell you exactly. I was running on my flip switch tuned by dynospeed. After fully considering everything that has happened, I have come to a decision on how this all probably happened.

1.) I sprayed a 150 HP shot on the motor and over revved it by about 700 rpm's in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear causing some ring damage.
2.) I ran the car pretty hard not knowing that I had damaged my compression and oil rings on two cylinders.
3.) I was 2.5-3 quarts low of oil and sprayed the car a few more time the same night. Only after this, I realized I had oil coming out of my exhaust pipes (a massive amount).
4.) Some time during all this my oil pressure must have dropped causing the number 8 bearing to spin. BTW: It was spun 1/2 a round in the rod journal when I opened everything up.
5.) I'm pretty sure the tune didn't have anything to do with it, because I have put atleast 400lbs. of nitrous through this motor on the same tune with no problems before.

In summary, I had gotten really careless with the spray after not experiencing any problems for so long, and it caught up with me. I cannot complain though, I have abused this motor so much that it should have blown up long ago. I'm telling you, I sprayed this car every time I got in it.

My wife: "Honey, can you run to the store and get some milk?"

Me: "No Problem, just let me make sure my bottle is open."

Good job. You know I'll be looking to see if you make the 350 mark.

Selling Mustang parts sucks! I had a buyer who was supposed to paypal me today on the nitrous kit. Then I get an email, he damaged his tranny last night at the track.

Trouble is, he was a serious buyer. I'm so fucking tired of low-ball offers from numb-nuts and good offers from guys that don't follow through.

So it was a personal nut-punt to hear the guy hurt his tranny. I thought I'd finally sold it.

What's the old saying? Old age and treachery will overcome youth and enthusiasm. I'll get my money out of it eventually.

Good luck on the build up.

John

John, I can't believe you are having trouble getting rid of that beautiful ZEX nitrous kit

However, I do know another guy on here that loves his purple bottle. He had it out of the trunk showing it off today.

Asshole. You don't know what color my bottle is - you saw it with a black bottle bag on it.

You know you don't have room to jank on color, none of my engines are lime green.

LOL
Sorry AC, it seems like my "purple" bottle is a bit more popular than "lime green" blocks! LOL
I like it though. Green is good luck, brings money, deters love bugs...
BTW, don't reveal all the plans with the engine, then there won't be a surprise at the end.
