Question about mods

Ok i have a 2001 mustang gt with 75000 miles on it. I want to drop about 6 grand into it. I plan on building the car up before i throw i supercharger on it. I am probably doing a vortech supercharger for the car. I have an x pipe now and a cat back but i plan on putting more bolt ons. Is it worth it to drop this money into the car with these many miles or should i buy another vechicle.

Questions are

1 Will the motor hold up with my plans?
2. Is it worth spending that much money on this car?
3. Is there any other modifications i should do to the engine if i do plan on dropping this money into the car

1>yes the motor will hold up just fine as long as you have a good tune.
2. I have an 01 GT myself and I am ok with spending as much money as i want to for this car.
a 4.6 is a half decent platform.

3. you could look into forged internals.

so i should keep my car and build it up versus trading it in and upgrading to another car like a 03/04 cobra. I just dont want to spend the money on the car and have it fall apart on me. How are mustangs when they have high mileage

lol, dude that isn't even that high of mileage the mustang will last like 250k miles if you maintain it right, and if you want to ever turn up the boost on the s/c then you'l have to rebuild the bottom end anyways and then you'll have a brand new engine!

Are you spending the 6 grand to get it ready for the S/C or is the cost of the S/C and tune included in that 6?

If your using it to get ready for boost I'd say put 3k into the bottom end, lower your compression and forge it. Put cams and heads on it too. Then you can run almost as much boost as you want. If you have any left after that I would upgrade the rear end.

Axles, differential, and control arms.

So i should build the motor up before i put all that money into a supercharger. I figure 3 grand in putting into the car and 3 grand for a vortech supercharger. I also have to tune i know that but i just want to do the proper things before i throw a s/c on. Can anyone give me a list of things to do before the s/c. Thanks

Without getting into head/cam swap, I would say:

Gears (3.55 or 3.73 for SC)
Long Tubes
Accufab plenum/TB
subframe connectors
upper/lower control arms
at least a stage 2 clutch
31 spline axles

and of course along with the SC you will have to upgrade injectors, MAF and all that good stuff

I think if you plan on doing autocross or american iron type of driving the cobra would be the way to go with the irs and ps cooling (i think they have a cooler on the ps). Not sure I would go 03 or 04 though since a lot of people change the sc out. An 01 might be the way to go if you plan on upgrading the sc since they are a little cheaper.

A mach might be an option too. I was looking at them and you can pick up a nice one for about 16k or less (back when I was looking at them).

Personally, I think you can build up a gt to be comptative with the cobras for less.

You mentioned spending 6k on your car, or getting a terminator.. I thought terms were a little more than 6k over the cost of a gt?
