Grinding after the track

We'll im going to start off saying I was not impressed at the track, my best was a 13.56 at 106 and I was expecting better , even though it was hot and humid I cant seeing it making that much difference. Anyways the whole time I was at the track the car was running fine but as soon as I hopped in it to leave it started grinding like a bitch anytime I go into second gear. Im thinking its the syncros but I wanted to get some more opinions.

That could be it. Ford has a TSB (not a recall) out on the TR3650 for the syncros. If its still under warranty Id take it in.

Well, I don't know what is wrong with your gears, but I do know that with a 106mph trap speed, you could get 12's. What were your 60' and 1/8th time and mph?

what is the syncros? my car makes a lot of clicking going into second. i thought it sounds like the noise and clicking feeling were coming from the shifter area and that i just need to change the shifter out to an aftermarket... but are those signs of a syncros problem? or shitty stock shifter problem? the cars got 61k on it...

if you wind up needing to replace anything too expensive, i got my old 3650 for sale. i'm probably gonna let it go for cheap since i just want it gone. it's in perfect condition.

PM me when you find out something.

If you were getting 2.3 60's then you'll be in the 12's no problem with better tires. +1 on the suck ass stock tires.

I think it's your syncro's too. Mine haven't messed up in this car yet, but in my first mustang they were going out between 1&2 and it sounded like what your experiencing.

...But you still bought it. I believe the saying is "Caveat emptor". You knew it wouldn't pass inspection and it is your fault you didn't make them pay for those little things especially if they went bad in the first two weeks. As for the transmission the dealer will say you rode it too hard, especially if they find out you were at the track. That is still a sweet car and just think of the stuff you are doing now as preventive maintenance for the future.

I'm not positive on this, but I don't think a dealership can sell you a car that won't pass emissions. They have to have the car registered for you when they sell it to you, and part of being registered is passing any appilcable emmisions laws...

The 30 day "cool down" period varies from state to state. I know in TX they don't allow a cool down period, and your stuck with it from the first day on. I would contact the dealer and let them know what's going on with it and have them do the emissions test. Then you can use that as ammo when you hire a lawyer!

Im'm willing to bet the car already has a inspection sticker on it. Again, as long as they informed him before he signed the papers it's not thier fault. Used car dealers sell cars "as is". They did him a favor by giving him his first inspection without alot of bull because they didn't have to, but he probably would have still purchaed the car.
