so an exhaust leak will decrease performance...

I wonder if the leak on my LT's at the heads is killing me a bit.

I wouldn't think a leak would decrease hp. If there is something restricting flow that would definately affect hp.

A leak will cause some degree of loss of backpressure right? Naturally aspirated engines need back pressure. If you cut your exhaust off at the engine, your car would run like shit.

I think mines leaking somewhere because I can cover the duels and the engine stays running! Thats probably a sign that theres a good leak someplace.... Im totally guessing though.

If your car has an exhaust leak bad enough to kill the power, you should be able to hear it. Unless your deaf. But I would def fix a exhaust manifold leak at the head. Thats alot of heat on that aluminum head. Plus if its bad enough you could burn a valve up. Then comes winter time, its not fixed sucks up a wif of cold air when you let off the throttle and shatters a valve.

Had car up on hoist today, no leaks, no kinks. Was told that now i need to introduce more air and fuel to compensate for the extra flow.

it shouldn't be causing the loss of power that is being claimed but a Good cai and t/b plenum set up will open his car up nicely over just the x pipe..

Are you sure you lost power? Sometimes with more sound coming out of it, it can feel like is just more sound and less power. If you know what I mean... I have heard from my tuner of people actually loosing power by doing the LT's and mid pipes with stock intake and TB/Plenum. You should definitely increase the air intake now.

True they do have a good point. But like you said it shouldnt be causeing that kind of loss in power. The way I understood what he said was they were telling him "oh its gonna be like that until you add more fuel and air." Thats what I was calling BS. It shouldnt have lost as much power as he is describing. I have my cats cut out, and I have no loss of power like that. So like hmusn said yeah its not a bad idea to add that stuff . But do you "need" to so that it will run like before you cut cats out, NO.

I think when you had the x-pipe installed you are felling a low end power loss and its not you losing power at all its just your lowend power got moved in to the upper rpm range so now with the x-pipe the low jerk you felt befor is a little higher up in rpms now.
