Brake upgrades
I want to know what options for brake upgrades are avalible to me.
I have a 2002 V6 Mustang with 16" wheels, I have been doing a little resarch and I have been looking at the Cobra upgrades but they require 17" wheels. I do not want to replace my wheels... so are there any other options for my circumstances. |

I'm not too great in the brake department, but im pretty sure all you can do if you dont want to go bigger is just get better stock rotors and pads, maybe those slotted or drilled ones.

+1 on the crossdrilled and slotted rotors they are bad to the bone,,any way if you want bigger breaks i think you must go with the 1 7 inch wheel
you could prolly pick up a set stock gt wheels dirt cheep then go with a kit like mine 13inch in front and 13 inch in back

there is a wrecking yard in georgia that you cna get a brake kit from a cobra or a gt pretty cheap. If you go with the gt or cobra breake you WILL have to upgrade to a bigger wheel.
you might look around and see if you can find some wheels of one of the members cars that just upgraded his/her wheels. im actually looking to get a cobra brake kit from the place listed above. i have heard alot of negative things about drilled rotors cracking during hard use. i would just go with the dimpled/slotted ones. |

I personally had a v6.. a 2001 in fact.
the stock brakes were pretty good on it and i beat the crap out of that thing. if your going to get a kit.. upgrade your wheels man. the Cobra brake kit is kick ass. I upgraded them on my GT and stopping power damn near doubled. totally worth it. you can find stock 17 GT wheels pretty damn cheap no a days. in fact I have 2 of them in my garage you can have. just pay shipping on them and they are yours. note.. they are free .. don't expect them to look nice.
