headlights / bulbs

So like the rest of you my headlights on my 2000 GT got all foggy. I went ahead and ordered the smoked headlights from American Muscle along with their "upgrade" bulbs. Even with my high beams on i can barely see. The light is very clean but it seems not bright at all. Now is it the fact I got the smoked headlights? I assume since cobras have smoked lenses it wouldnt matter that much. I assumed losing some light but this is kinda insane. Any thoughts? Should I get different bulbs or start trying to find a trade?

i have the smoked headlights on mine (stock)... and i have no problem seeing, all i can suggest is to throw your stock bulbs in and see if you get any better visibility.

That was my next plan. Has anyone here ever used the bulbs from American Muscle?

I haven't, but I can recommend either PIAA's or Silverstar.

this is the procedure I used when I installed my headlights.

I have the EXACT SAME set up you do. I got the wrong headlights so i sent them back. so i threw the new bulbs in the old lights and they actually were worse than my stock ones. I was PISSED. I didn't even try the new bulbs int he new housings because i knew they were going to suck.

I did however align my headlights. all I did was parkin my yard and set in the driver seat. Then looked at the position of the headlights. I noticed that they were aimed super low. So I got an alen wrench and rotated the adjuster on top of the light. I don't remember what way is up and what way is down. Just turn it one way and if it goes down then turn it back the other way. always count the number of turn just incase you mess up and have to start over. That way you have a base to start from.

here are a couple pictures on my old lights with the new and old bulbe. the new one is in the driver side. you can see that the stock one over powers the new one.

Yea man thanks a lot! thats exactly what is looks like. Its very clean but notice how the left one barely lights anything up? Well looks like im going to AutoZone on the way home to get some new lights. Those sure were some expensive useless lightbulbs... :-/ And I will also adjust them up a little bit.

Walmart is a good place to get the bulbs cheap. They have the ss ones for like 36 bucks a pair I think (I just got a set there and think it was under 40),

Yea I adjusted them last night... Didnt help AT ALL... New bulbs are in store for tonight. I will probally go with the SilverStars... I dont care if I get pulled over I just want to find the brightest ones possible. Oh and so everyone knows. The Lumonics bulbs only put out 37 watts? The Sylvania Silverstars are 70. That alone should make a HUGE difference. The Lumonics claim "emmit 110 watts worth of light while only consuming 37 watts!"... Thats a load... Next stop, parts review section....

Silverstars will be just fine, no pulling over on those. And yes, high wattage claims is just to compensate for the tint on the glass which takes away all the output of the bulb. "made in taiwan".
