Retard Timing for Nitrous

Called the local speed shop said they could tune my Stang for 100 shot of nitrous for $300 if I provide the tuner. Pretty cheap. He also said that the kit I get needs to have some sort of way to retard the timing. I'm getting the ZEX kit for 99-04 mustangs. Anyone know if it can retard timing?

another question lol. I read that a lot of these window switches you need a tach reader to get the signal to the switch. where can i get one and how much is it. OR....is there a window switch that you dont need a tach reader?

also i read somewhere you need a WOT switch. doesnt that come with this zex kit or am i mistaken? and do i need a fuel pressure safety switch?

one more thing. what guages are recommended? i hear air/fuel, fuel pressure, and egt. what does egt stand for? sorry for all the newb ?s but im eager to slap on the juice.

ZEX™ Active Fuel Control™ adjusts fuel enrichment with variations in bottle pressure; you’re never too rich or too lean

• ZEX™ electronics use the vehicle’s TPS sensor to activate the nitrous system only at wide open throttle

looks like a complete kit to me.

I think you mean egr

a/f will always be your best gauge imo

a nitrous pressure guage will be all you need for the nitrous itself. a/f, fuel pressure, egt (exhaust gas temps.) guages are a couple others that people install. wot switch is built in the box. as for the window switch:

Sorry, I intended to reply in PM, but mine finally sold.

The Zex kit and accessories are great. The wire for the tach signal comes off the "odd" wire to the plug. Check each plug, I forget the colors, but each will have one wire color in common and one that is different. No matter which cylinder, tap into the "different" wire for the tach signal.

The Zex kit has a built-in WOT switch - the white wire off the nitrous management unit. Hook it up the the middle wire of the TPS (throttle postition sensor), all done.

Good luck with it, nitrous is addictive and fun.
