Motha$$^%*&^&W%^goddamff%^(*&&^&(!!!!!!

Jesus Christ...after I finally got the rear brake pads OUT of my 2001 GT (whats left of them) I tried putting in rear brakes I bought over a year ago from Blue Oval IN....They're too thick. I am SO pissed off today after replacing this side mirror and all Ive gone thru trying to replace the brakes...SUPPOSEDLY these are the CORRECT brake pads for my car. They're the same size, they fit perfectly inside the brake shoe but when I tried to lay the caliper back over them, they were SO thick with brake layer that I could'nt even come close to putting it back on. If it was CLOSE, thats one thing...but there was NO way I was getting the caliper roof back on over these pads...Not even with only ONE of them on!!! Im almost positive these are the wrong pads for the car...I am almost positive I did NOT do anything wrong..please help...Do I need to shave these pads???

Are you compressing the caliper piston when putting them on the rotors?

The problem is more than likely your not compressing the caliper all of the way because you have to spin the piston as you compress it. You can buy or rent the tool to do it at autozone. BTW I have never heard of a pad being to big.

Big middle finger straight up to the guy who can do nothing but laugh...Number 2, you're right I was'nt compressing the piston. After I calmed down in the last 15 minutes I realized that was the problem...Theres' no way I can do it without the tool? BTW how late is Autozone open on Saturdays? Thanks guys.

once it is turned and compressed, it will stay. depending on wear, it might still be a tight fit.

haha, don't sweat it dude, it has happened to all of us at one time or another. I was helping my neighbor pull the tranny in his Chebby pickup this evening. We got all the studs out of the bell housing and started pulling it back but it was hung up. We screwed around with it for about 10 minutes before I thought to look and notice we had not taken the shifter out. Talk about feeling stupid. He is a mechanic at Terex and I have done my share of car repairs. It happens to the best of us.

Hope you got it all back together.

you should be able to rent it from Autozone for free... It's like 10-15 dollars are so up front, then they give you a full refund when the tool is returned.

make sure before you start depressing the piston you open the cap on your master cylinder to relieve the pressure, or you could possibly damage something.
