How to replace the mach 460 head unit?

Ok well i want a Head unit where i can play my ipod through so the only route to go is aftermarket... i have a 2002 gt with the mach 460 6 disc. What i've heard is that you have to bypass the speakers and amps but i've heard that you can only do this if the speakers are 4ohm... i'm so lost here HELP ME!!!

if you are looking to go with an aftermarket head unit just buy the adapter to go with the head unit. I talked to audio plus here is oklahoma and the adapter was <$20. If you do decide to replace it and want to sell your stock one ill take it. I called dibs. mine is going out.

You need a head unit without a built in amp or one that you can turn the biult in amp off. I was told that the built in amp will mess something up and it won't work. Im not to to knowledgeable with car audio stuff.

when you want to sell your head unit pm me. I NEED a new one.

Take a look at this aux adapter.
It's supposed to work with the Mach systems.

Call Crutchfield just to be sure though.
