I'm going to the track for the 1st time tomorrow!!!!

I'm really excited and a little bit nervous. I feel like i'm a pretty good driver and I hope for at least to be in the low 14's

What king of times do you think I can expect with my mods?.....provided my 60 ft is good.

If you hook good and have a great 60' time..maybe 13.9-14.1 at best.

Your first run will prolly be about 15 sec. It happens to everyone man.

+1 , if you can get a good 60 you can dip into the 13's but with it being your first time and you being nervous i doubt its going to happen , with a little more seat time you def have a 13 sec ride. Good luck

Man I can't wait!!!! I will post my times tomorrow night as soon as I get home.

I'm going with some friends. One has an 00 GT, one has an 00 Cobra, and the other has a 95 Eagle Talon Turbo. It should be lots of fun.

And I really hope i'm not in the 15's!!!! That would suck bawz!!

Yeah a 2000 Cobra R... but i highly doubt thats what the guy has. There were only 300 of those made and my fathers friend's brother or sumthin like that totalled his in 2004 so theres less than 299 left haha

You will be in the 15s if not the 16s for the first run! What altitude you at? That plays a big part! here are my times from today

Go and enjoy yourself. You will get the hang of it. The first time I went several years ago on a test and tune night I told the guy noob. He had me go by myself. Made it much easier not lining up next to someone. After that first run you will get rid of alot of jitters. Good luck.

i have pretty much the same mods as you and i think i ran a 15.5 my first run... its very nerve racking, especially if you're in front of like 150 other drivers and several hundred more people. my best time in the 8 runs ive taken with my car was a 14.5. ive tried with traction control on and off, and got the 14.5 with it on.

BIGGEST thing in my opinion is to start slow and get your grip... with all the excitement and anticipation its very natural to want to absolutely floor the gas the second the light is green, but the better times come with a controlled launch. jamming the gas just results in you moving 15 feet in the first 3 seconds of the race lol.

another thing i made a mistake with is that i was practicing my launches on an abandoned road near my house. i went into the track thinking my launches were gonna be near perfect and then realized launching off pavement and strips of smooth rubber are 2 completely different stories haha. all depends if you're using stock tires or slicks tho.

So what exactly is the difference between launching on the street and launching at the strip? Do you spin more at the track or on the street?

well if you have street tires... i think the track will be slicker. i get more traction on the street than the track. but then again where i went sucks balls! right jared? haha

you should launch probably a little under 2k if you have street tires and dont mash the gas, youll just spin good luck

looks like i'll be screwed at the track then. i've gotten my launch down perfectly on pavement. chances are i'll end up spinning my first time at the track

and don't bother staging if he has street tires?
